Are people who are unvaccinated or children allowed onboard?

This is the most recent policy about vaccinations and COVID tests on Celebrity (received it yesterday, again)….

BTW…..they also stated they will sail with 95% vaccinated guests.  But, for the most part, it seems as if they’re sailing with 98%-99% vaccinated guests.  The rest are for children who can’t yet be vaccinated.

HAVE NEGATIVE TEST RESULTS READY TO PRESENT AT TERMINAL

All guests over the age of two, regardless of vaccination status, will now be required to present a negative COVID-19 test result at the time of embarkation. This test may be taken as either a PCR test or an Antigen test, conducted within 72 hours of embarkation. Each guest is responsible for making their own arrangements with an accredited testing provider as well as all associated costs.

HAVE DOCUMENTATION OF VACCINATION READY TO SHOW AT THE TERMINAL

Acceptable documentation must be in the form of the original document issued by the country’s health authority or healthcare provider that administered the vaccination. Proof of vaccination will be recorded and reviewed for signs of fraud. Please be aware that falsification of vaccination records is a federal crime subject to prosecution and will result in denial of boarding or removal from the voyage. Additionally, it may:

•Be a violation of state and local laws, exposing you to criminal prosecution in places we visit.

•Expose you to civil liability for costs and damages caused.

ALL UNVACCINATED GUESTS 6 MONTHS TO 11 YEARS OLD WILL REQUIRE A COMPLIMENTARY COVID-19 TEST AT THE TERMINAL

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS FOR UNVACCINATED GUESTS 12 +

•You will need to arrive for embarkation with a negative RT-PCR taken within 3 days in advance of arrival to the terminal.

•You will be required to take a Covid-19 test at the terminal, mid cruise onboard, and again at the end of the cruise.

•Please do not make early travel plans on the day of debarkation to allow time for the required testing process.

•The per person costs for these tests is $178 and will be applied to your onboard folio.

•Masks will be required at all times onboard except while eating or drinking.

•Unvaccinated guests and families with unvaccinated children may only go ashore if participating in an excursion provided by Celebrity Cruises, and depending on local government requirements, unvaccinated guests may be further restricted from going ashore.

•Unvaccinated guests will have designated seating areas in some venues such as the dining rooms, casino, theatre, etc.

Guests that do not meet the testing and health requirements will be denied boarding.

So I took these sentences directly from the email you received and posted.  You wonder why there is confusion on 72 hr vs 3 days?

I think they're viewing 3 days and 72 hours as the same thing.  I'm covered, either way.

It depends on who you speak to at Celebrity.  More recent comments have focused on three days.  But other posters have received Celebrity feedback that they need to pay attention to their boarding check in time and the 72 hour window.

Seems like over kill for a 7 day cruise out of Seattle. I will do it but wont book anymore cruises after this. Plenty of chances for your cruise to end prematurely.

This is for my Eastern Caribbean sailing leaving this Saturday.  I don't know what they require for sailings out of Seattle.  Not sure about overkill. I think their sister sailings from Royal Caribbean are not requiring 95%+ vaccination sailings.  They are demanding additional COVID insurance to sail (which some insurance providers won't offer), mask mandates, extra charge testing, and limiting where the unvaccinated passengers can go, on top of requiring indoor mask wearing.

I believe Celebrity is making it clear they believe a (nearly) totally vaccinated cruise is the way to sail safely.

NCL is requiring 100% vaccine for all passengers, regardless of embarkation point.  I know they're sailing out of Seattle, I believe this week.

Not sure what Carnival is doing.  I know they are allowing you to file for some sort of exemption (which may or may not be granted) to sail unvaccinated.

But, industry wide, if you're cruising and you're not vaccinated, be prepared for additional costs and restrictions to sail unvaccinated.

My discussion with a Celebrity employee from their executive office (877) 290-5881 disclosed that I can consider the 72 hour rule to be flexible.  My concern was having a 10:00 test on a Wednesday morning and arriving at the pier at noon the following Saturday, thereby have the test within 74-75 hours and not the required 72 hours.  Her advice was to obtain the pre-covid rapid antigen test

3 days prior to the sailing, anytime on a Wednesday before a Saturday sailing.  I asked that this be clarified to all on their website and when we receive the check-in instructions.      However, something makes me uncomfortable not having this in writing as I fear being refused boarding at the pier regardless of my discussion.

Thus far, I have seen ZERO reports of 72 hrs vs 3 day issues at the pier.

In anticipation of the possible requirement that all passengers obtain a negative Covid -19 test no more than 3 days prior to sailing, I contacted both CVS and Walgreens at the suggestion of a Celebrity employee.  The online registration for Walgreens is not working properly and I am informed they will only accept an appointment 3 days in advance of a sailing for a Rapid Antigen test and uncertain of a one hour result.  CVS will provide this test but with a 1-2 day result.  We require a one hour result to be certain this requirement will be satisfied.  Does anyone know of a solution to this problem?

Thank You

We are booked on the Edge for Aug 21st sailing.  We have booked a rapid antigen test which has the results in one hour at CVS.  I was told by Celebrity that it was an acceptable test as long as it’s an antigen test.  But I did book the test for Wednesday, 72 hours prior to embarkment.

Thank heavens, because I scheduled a PCR test in the am on a Tuesday for a Friday embarkation.
