I’m new to Celebrity and am on Silhouette soon. When I’ve been on P&O ships before I’ve had a go at roulette but only for a bit of fun. I understand that the minimum bet for Celebrity is $5. Does that mean that the smallest chip value is $5 as if so, I won’t be playing as that racks up a lot of money quickly?

I don’t know the answer to your question but the best thing about Celebrity casino is no smoking. 😀

Thanks. Am I best taking some dollars with me or can I get them on board / charge it to my onboard account?

If I won some money, how do I get that back?

Unless there have been post-Covid changes, you can use your sea pass to draw money if you have a credit card registered to your account.  They have a cashier's booth where you can cash in chips for U.S. currency.  I think you can also open a credit account online.

The cruises I have been on the minimum wager at the craps table has been at least $10, (which prices me out).  It seems like I have seen $5 blackjack tables.  I don't recall about poker.

You buy chips at the table. Just pass your cash to the dealer. The dealer will then give you colored chips distinctive to you so you and the dealer can track what you put on the board. After each turn the dealer will clear off the losing bets and pay out the winning bets. When you are finished you scoop up your chips and cash out at the window.

The smallest chip value is $1 but you are required to have $5 worth of bets on the table inside (on the numbers, splitting the numbers, etc).  $5 is also the min outside bet (on Red, top 1/3, one line of numbers etc).

The table will exchange cash for chips or you can charge to your room (I believe it's a 3% charge for that).  All winnings can be exchanged at the cage for cash.

its been our experience that they like $10 minimum on blackjack especially at the start of a cruise.

If there's not action (usually) they will begrudgingly open a $5 table to get players.

Just on the 7/25 /21 sailing of the Equinox. Minimum table amount for blackjack was $15.

I seem to recall a minimum bet of $5 for roulette (which is the game the OP inquired about).  I believe you can get $1 chips (only to be used at the roulette table).  They can be spread around or used on one number, but the minimum bet must be $5.

On the Edge now, in the evenings there has always been a $25 blackjack table open. If it isn't getting action they open a $10 table, but no lower than that.

However, during the day on sea days, they've had a "lower limit gaming period", usually in the middle of the day when the casino is emptier - it was 2-6 PM yesterday - where they opened $5 tables for many of the games.

It was $10 on the 8/1 Equinox Cruise I just disembarked. I think a $50+ bet pays 3 to 2 on Blackjack…otherwise 6 to 5.

I stuck with Craps mostly, also $10 min.

You can win quite a bit if you do even money bets, wait for some sort of streak and bet against it.  For example, on roulette one strategy is to wait for three reds or blacks and then bet against it.  If you lose double down a certain number of times.  If you do this you'll want to have a high bankroll and bet the minimum which on the X single zero table was $25; can use the same strategy with Baccarat (you can learn it in 5mins, it's literally like the card game war) yet its usually a $100 minimum.

You do realize that with a series of independent trials, the past results do not influence the future outcomes, right?  If the wheel as landed on red 100 times in a row, it is not "due" to land on black.

Oh, I'd say that after 100 reds, black is definitely 'due'!

Of course, apart from the zeros, that doesn't change the fact that the next spin is still only 50% chance for black/red.

And doubling down can be a quick way to go through a lot of dough, requiring a substantial bankroll to make it back to break even.

@NutsAboutGolf

In 7 even money bets that lose (yeah, it happens!), you can go from a $10 to a $1,280 bet in a hurry playing that game.

Last cruise, roulette was minimum $5 either inside or outside, $1 min chip value.
