We did as well. Which floor are you on? I was wondering if it was sent to specific areas of the ship.

So let's see if I get crap now! I posted some information from the 8/21 sailing and people here and on FB didn't like what I had to say . . . I guess I was right!

During the cruise, crew members in Tyvek suits were seen on Deck 10 with the sanitizing spray and were seen with someone's belongings wrapped up. The next day the ship went from Green to Yellow with the CDC. The day after that, a family was escorted off the ship with crew members in N95 masks and led onto a ferry at Dawes Glacier. We could see on one of the pictures that these were not American Citizens by their passport that was handed to the ferry crew (I think UK, but it wasn't clear enough to make out the full markings, just the color). On the last morning of the cruise, Tyvek suited crew members were once again seen with wrapped luggage on one of the passenger decks. Then one member of our Facebook roll call tested positive for COVID on Monday or Tuesday. And Now this letter . . . . There was COVID on our sailing but NCL didn't say a thing to us.

Also of note some crew members that I had spoken with at the beginning of the cruise and wore just the standard NCL masks were wearing double masks by the end of the cruise and were no longer pulling their mask down when speaking. This was not all crew members, but some of them.

Me and my wife tested about 36 hours after getting off when we returned to New York and just re-tested a few minutes ago and both tests were negative. We plan to retest on Saturday

I don't know why anyone would give you crap. I am very grateful to you for sharing information. Perhaps those who felt that NCL policy of  100% vaccinated would keep covid off the ship were faced with the hard reality that 100% vaccinated doesn't appear to be any more, or less, effective than the 95/5% policy and that realization made them uncomfortable? Who knows, but your experience is important for anyone thinking their sailing will remain covid free just because it's 100% vaccinated. It won't. It can't. Those folks should be thanking you.

While I'm sure there are people out there who believe this, I believe that most of us just feel that the 100% vaccination requirement will minimize risks of major outbreaks.  A few cases per cruise is likely to be the norm for quite a while.  95/5 with full masking and distancing vs. 100 with no masks.  While the case count may wind up the same, I'll take the later thank you.

Just an off topic question... if NCL's policy requires masking by the time you sail will you cancel?

No.

I work in the medical field. The mask is for your protection more than mine. If NCL has to go that way, no big deal. After all, there is a dress code already, so this is just more of that (and helps you not become ill, for the win).

Well basically I felt I was being called a liar and that I didn't know what I was talking about by people that were not on the ship.

If Tyvek (I had used the term hazmat) suited people were seen disinfecting an area and the next day the ship goes to yellow odds are there was a COVID case. But people didn't want to believe that and to be honest I think those people are lacking common sense or was just blinded by the fact that they didn't want to admit that someone on a fully vaccinated/tested cruise could possibly get COVID.

I will add that a few of the crew members did tell me that they are tested on a weekly basis.

To be clear - the color codes on the CDC site are also applied for 'COVID-Like illness', or CLI as the descriptions indicate.  It may not have been COVID...

If crew are tested weekly, this means the crew is not 100% vaccinated, and the ship is below green status.  Otherwise, they are tested every other week.

In theory yes, but are you really saying that what crew members were being seen doing and then the Yellow status would not indicate a COVID positive? Common sense says otherwise

Maybe in the CDC requirements, but I think this is an NCL policy. We have seen NCL take extra precautions that other companies have not and I think this is just one of those extra precautions.

Yet, according to the CDC Technical Instructions, persons who show CLI symptoms must be handled in the same way as persons who have been definitively determined to have Covid-19.  So, the cleaning and disinfecting of a cabin will be the same whether it is covid positive, or just CLI.  It is only at the point where a person with a covid positive test is disembarked that treatment begins to differ between covid positive and CLI.

Wow, you really don't want to believe that COVID was on our cruise. Well I know for a FACT that it was (someone from our FB Group was positive 2 days after getting off which means they had it while on the ship), Multiple Tyvek cleanings and escorts off the ship, and now just 3 days into the new cruise multiple crew members test positive (means they most likely had it when we were there).

There was COVID on the ship when we were on. If you don't want to believe it and be blind to the FACTS then be that way. Sometimes it's not always a good thing to be a fanboy(or girl)! Use common sense!

I will add one more fact:

Mere minutes after typing my last message here I got the following alert on my phone. The 27th was a sea day so it HAD to happen on the ship. I am fully vaccinated, have no symptoms and tested negative on Sunday and this morning thank goodness! I will test again in a couple of days to make sure.

Please point out where I said anything like that.  I don't doubt that there was a covid case on your cruise, but you stated that "common sense" would indicate that the measures taken by the crew confirmed that there was a covid case.  I merely pointed out that the protocols are the same whether the patient gets a positive test or not.  You may want to calm down and read.  As for being a "fanboy", I have both defended cruise lines against unjustified accusations, and condemned them when they deserve it.  I believe you are being more of a "fanboy" with your assertions that NCL is going over and above the CDC guidelines, which neither of us can prove, as we don't work for them.

I don't think I can link to his videos or channel (because he's a travel agent) but there's a 'CruiseTuber' that went over this color coding system in a video or two last week.  His name isn't Don but he's a friend of his...

Are you referring to Tony of La Lida Loca?  He isn't a travel agent, his wife is though.
