Guest Snaxmuppet Posted September 19, 2021 #1 Share Posted September 19, 2021 I have never refared. I am in the UK and booked direct with Princess... is refaring (if that is a verb!) even possible for me? Our price has dropped over £400 since we booked 😞 How do I go about it? majortom10 Posted September 19, 2021 #2 Share Posted September 19, 2021 Contact Princess but depending when your cruise is and when you booked it I wouldnt hold your breath. The only other way is what P&O advise and that is to cancel your booking and rebook it if it is financially viable.

Thanks... it would have to drop another £500 to make it worthwhile as I would then lose the deposit of around £800. I wonder if I called to upgrade to a full suite (it is currently a mini-suite) whether they might allow us to keep our deposit or would they cancel the original booking (so losing the deposit) and then just start a new booking requiring another deposit? james_19742000 Posted September 19, 2021 #4 Share Posted September 19, 2021 Under the cruise guarantee at the moment, you should be able to cancel accept the future cruise credit for what you've already paid, then rebook and use the FCC against the reduced price cruise, thats what we done and it worked quite well, the lady on the phone sorted it all quite quickly, but be warned ringing princess you will lose the will to live as you'll be on the phone for hours! Isn't the Cruise with Confidence (which is what you are talking about I think) only applicable if you are inside the final payment date... so inside 60 days?https://www.princess.com/plan/cruise-with-confidence/cancellation-final-payment-policy/

Pre Covid you were allowed ONE change to your cruise..cabin/price/ship/ date at an admin charge of £100 per booking. You did this through whom you booked with..either Travel agent or Princess Direct. So saving £400 might be worth it..is it £400 each or total? You need to consider further price drops might happen or the fare could increase. I read somewhere on Cruise Critic that the admin fee is now £150 for one change. There may be additional rules for changes since Covid. It might be worth speaking to Princess to consider your options…explain you are just looking for information and don’t want to make any changes until you understand what they are offering. Some people have mentioned they were told they would need to cancel and re book..but this is not the case..as long as you speak to someone who knows what they are talking about ! You may have to ring a few times to find such a person.
sandancer Posted September 19, 2021 #7 Share Posted September 19, 2021 We cancelled the Sky Princess on Nov 5th due to the restrictions on entering the US. We got the deposit back as an FCC. This was before final payment. Also discussed moving a cruise in 2022 to another date and we’re told that a £100 cancellation fee would apply. As another poster pointed out you need to be prepared for a long wait if you try and speak to Princess.
wowzz Posted September 19, 2021 #8 Share Posted September 19, 2021 We talked to our TA when the price for a minisuite dropped below what we had paid for our deluxe balcony, on our Sky October 22nd cruise. They talked to Princess, and we got upgraded to a minisuite and got a small refund of £48 ! So definitely worth making a call.

Stokie33 Posted September 20, 2021 #10 Share Posted September 20, 2021 We were on Sky the 30th August the price dropped £200 immediately after final payment I phoned and they cancelled our original booking and transferred it all to a new one at the new price. I think it took about 2 weeks to get the £200 back.
jojo1966 Posted September 20, 2021 #11 Share Posted September 20, 2021 our price dropped for our canary island cruise in october by £860 after final payment - i rang to ask if could upgrade to a mini suite and pay the additional 50 quid with it being such a large change, and she offered to just refund the price difference direct to credit card so took that instead 🙂 as per stokie - took around 7 -10 days to appear back on card ! Guest Snaxmuppet Posted September 20, 2021 #12 Share Posted September 20, 2021 Thanks everyone. Worth asking the question then. I tried calling this morning but had to hang up after 30 mins. I'll try again tomorrow.

The Princess UK lines are open til 10pm - in the evenings the calls are picked up by the call centre in the US and you usually get straight through. They can do all our usual requests 🙂 Be aware that if you try and do that upgrade from a mini-suite to a suite then it will be based on the suite fare at the time of your original booking and not the new reduced price. If you check out the website you can find details of Personal Cruise Specialist. 0344 338 8661 I had a cruise booked direct with Princess and the price dropped. I contacted Dhalveen and she was extremely helpful. If she is on the phone she calls you back as she can see the missed call. I got the price drop but lost my OBC as that offer was no longer available. There is normally £100 admin fee to cancel and rebook but it is done instantly so you can still get the same cabin.
