This little island was right off my balcony, I called it Richard Branson’s island.

 

 

 

 

People who don’t cruise will never understand the color of the water.

There was a jetski excursion.

 

 

 

 

Soon enough, it was dinner time.

Steve regaled me with his tales of everything he did on the island.

 

He went snorkeling and found a shark’s tooth.

 

 

We knew each other enough now that he let me take pictures of his food.

 

He had the French Onion Soup.

 

 

 

 

I had Cream of Chicken with rosemary croutons.

 

 

Steve sometimes orders for the Invisible Man.  The Invisible Man wanted mussels.

I had the Caesar Salad.

 

 

We both had the swordfish and it was fabulous!  The portion size was huge.

 

 

 

 

 

 

The IM ordered Beef Bourgionnon?  Boubbourgoin??  Once again, Steve gave me the paper menu and I lost it somewhere in this hovel of a cabin.  I have to get it cleaned up.  I’m the first stop on the Cabin Crawl tomorrow.  Anyway, we shared the beef, it tasted like Mama’s pot roast with a little wine added to it.

 

 

 

 

We both had this dessert, another French name lost in the cabin, Glaceau Opera?  We called it chocolate lasagna and it was 11 layers of deliciousness.

They were putting on a light show at the lighthouse at 8 and 10.  Steve said he was going and halfway talked me into it.  We left the MDR at 7:35.  He headed out and I headed back to my cabin.  Halfway home, I decided to go see the show.  I had to go to the cabin, though.  I had Beef Tom Bergeron stuck in my teeth and I needed to floss.

 

You should have seen me flying trying to get there in time.  I made it off the ship at 7:55 and I could see the lighthouse.  I couldn’t find any benches or anything, so, I leaned on a light fixture and turned my attention to the lighthouse.

 

 

 

I have decided that is Venus off to the side of the LH. Don’t correct me if I’m wrong, let me have my delusions.

 

 

 

The show must be good if even the crew was out to see it.

It got to be 8:05 and we were still waiting.  If there’s one thing cruise ships know how to do it’s keep a schedule.

 

8:10, I was hugging onto that light fixture like it was my long lost twin.

 

 

8:15, Anytime  now!

 

 

 

8:20, I yelled out, Do something!

8:30, Someone and I am not even remotely implying it was a member of the crew, not even remotely, yelled out, in a strong Filipino accent , Come on, motherscrubber!

At this point, I started thinking maybe it was at 9:00?  But, even the crew thought it was 8:00.  So, I headed out across the beach, heading towards civilization.  Every step I took, the cane would sink about 3 inches into the sand.  I was struggling, sweating, breathing heavily.

 

Finally, I came to a bar.  I must have looked like Robinson Crusoe struggling off that beach.  

 

Bring me all the drinks!

 

 

I had a Sea Breeze.

 

 

 

 

They had food trucks around the island where you could get snacks.

They had fires burning on the beach and were getting set up for a party with a lot of flashing lights. There were beanbag chairs and Adirondack chairs on the beach.

I got myself a table and had a few Moscow Mules.  They were great!  It was like being kicked in the face by a mule being ridden by a shirtless Vladimir Putin.

At 9:00, the show began and it was wonderful.  

 

 

 

 

Music was playing and the lights looked like birds flying  and fish and turtles swimming.  It doesn’t show in the pictures, but, you can see how vivid it was.

There was a second show at 10, with different music and effects.  I recorded that as a video, if it comes out okay, I’ll post a link when I get home.  Of course, even though I’d staked out my table 2 hours before, right at showtime some tall, Mr Clean looking mofo came and stood right in front of me.

 

Between shows, they put up a rainbow effect and there was a party.  I heard people the next day complaining the light show was just a rainbow that never changed.  Sigh.

 

 

Here’s the LH and the party.  I enjoyed being where I was, away from the hubbub,   They played Michael Jackson, Donna Summer, The BeeGees, The Wobble, Electric Slide, everything that makes you want to dance.

 

 

 

 

 I had a few more Moscow Mules and the waitress brought me some fries.  I’m telling you, they were piping hot!  Yum.

After trying to get my pictures to come up, I gave up and went off for some pizza.  As I walked into the buffet, there was a gaggle of servers.  I gave them a friendly nod of hello and continued on my way.  Suddenly, a voice rose from the back.  Welcome back, Miss!  Two glasses of rose and two bottles of water?  Son of a … It was only the second night, who knows me like that?

 

I got my usual.

 

 

And, a few more Vladimirs to finish my night.

I so enjoy your comments as I often THINK these things but am afraid people will find me a grouchy, old lady!  Mr. Clean sounded like he is pat of the "all about me" generation & I'm sure I would have had enough mules to remind him he isn't a window!

Tried to resist but I can hold it in no longer - What are the ducks about?  I saw the picture earlier and have seen you mention them and leaving them about the ship.  Are they like travel bugs in geocaching?

There are people who cruise to 'whine and complain".  The Lighthouse Show and the effects between the shows are so unique to MSC that those who have not experienced other private islands have no clue as to what they are able to experience at Ocean Cay.

Awwww…my namesake drink. Others often think it’s because I’ve lived near the ocean all my life, but it’s really from THIS wonderful refreshing tropical drink. So enjoying all your updates!

They're like painted rocks.  You hide them and people find them.  Just a way to put a smile on someone's face.  I was out today and saw a little kid, maybe 4 or 5?  I reached in my backpack, got a duck and made eye contact with grandma as I placed the duck down.  As I walked away, she started yelling to the kid, see the duck, there's a duck, etc.  A man came running behind me to thank me.  He said, are you Maureen?  He knew me from the socials and his other grandkid had found one of my ducks and they had been hoping this kid would.  When we couldn't cruise for so long, I had all these ducks, so, I started doing Duck Duck Jeep, putting them on Jeeps.  I go to the hospital a couple times a week and ride around in the parking lot.  I figure, whether they're patients or staff, they could use a smile.  One Jeep I went to, I was surprised to find a man inside.  He said his wife and 10 year old grandson were both in the hospital with Covid.  He wasn't allowed to visit, so, he would come and sit in the parking lot to be near them.  His wife does the ducks, so, he knew what it was and was thrilled to get one.

Tuesday was our second day at the island and I enjoyed it so much the night before, I decided to head over bright and early (for me) and have lunch there.

I looked for the tram to take me to the buffet area.  The only tram stop I saw was for Yacht Club and the driver there said he did not know where the tram stops were for the regular people.  Again, the TRAM DRIVER didn’t know where the stops were.  Oops, there’s Boston starting to peek out again.

 

So, I started walking.

 

I found some rocks.

 

 

 

The aforementioned jetskis.

 

 

 

 

The little marina area, these folks were heading out on an excursion.  Those pretty buildings behind are where the island staff live.

How convenient, I hadn’t had anything to drink since Vlad the night before.  A little fruit juice would start the morning right.

This is truly what a private island should be.  I need to cruise more before the CDC says more people can come.

When I started packing up, my waiter flagged down a tram for me.  I think it was a Yacht Club tram, don’t tell anybody.
