We've never played slots or actually anything in the casino. DH wants to use some of his obc in the casino on our upcoming cruise. How do you play slots using medallian? Thanks for any info & input.

Place the medallion on the designated round spot. Slot reads your medallion. Sign in. Select the amount you want to risk. This amount will be charged to your on board account and net against any credit or debit balance. Play. When you cash out the amount due transfers to your casino account. Go to the cashier to retrieve any casino account balance. Tips. You must play. You can not just charge to your on board account and then cash out using the slot as an ATM. You don't have to cash out every time you play. The casino account remains throughout your cruise. There will be a deadline to cash out all accounts, usually the last evening the casino is open. Any funds not cashed out by the deadline are lost.

This is what happened to me:

1. Informed casino mgr that I was running a slot pull

2. Collected 360. Loaded 360 onto casino account from my portfolio

4. Ran slot pull

4. Cashed out

5. Distributed funds

6. Put that 360 onto shipboard account to cover slot pull

7. Returned to casino -> was denied access -> needed casino mgr to unlock my account. She did a few hours later as the previous amt was slot pull $$s

This wasn't an issue as recent as 12/2019

Several years ago I had problems logging on from several machines in a 10  minute period and got locked - explained it to the casino manager and got set back up immediately

The medallion basically works the same way you cruise card did when you would log in to a machine to play

I use to put my card in the slot machines, just to earn points.  I would play with cashi brought onboard and cash out.  So nothing would show up on our onboard acct.  Chan I do this with the medallion.  Thanks

Minor addition: I was blocked from adding funds. The cashier confirmed that I was not eligible to add funds because I had loaded account, plays showed, closed account all in same day. I wonder what would happen if I closed it the next day instead

Yes you can feed the machine cash and that is what I should have done. But I'd still be closing it out to distribute $$s and locked out until the casino mgr removed the block

My personal takeaway: however the account is loaded (transferred, cash) do not close the account out before final day

Am I understanding correctly they my DH can play the slots with cash? I think he'd prefer that to having to use a password to log in each time. He can use his obc for something else.

You can play with cash but you have to cash out to your account. The machine will not drop quarters into your lap unless something has changed

I have casino free play on my next few cruises (part of a casino offer).  I’m assuming it’s similar to land casino free play?  I need to play the free amount before I can take money out?  Not sure how it works on a ship.

(Not sure why I got these offers.  Have only been on two Princess cruises.  Only went to the casino on one cruise one time and dropped $50.  Guess they really need passengers!  Amount of casino free play is more than I’ve ever spent in a casino%!)

When you are finished playing and you hit collect , is there a printed slip showing your winnings to take to the cashier?  This is the way you get your money out of the machines In most land based casinos and on Royal and Celebrity cruise ships.  From what I am reading here, it looks like your winnings or losses stay in your ship board account until the end of the cruise.  I am not sure I like this idea.  Looks like it would be easy to lose track of you net gambling position.

Yes. Cash is certainly accepted. Cash out ix loaded onto your casino account and you have to go to the cashier to redeem. No printed slips, etc.

there is no printed slip - if you have something to cash out, it would go on your Medallion. then, you go to the cashier, use your Medallion, enter pin number, sign the receipt and get your money from the cashier

So the Medallion just makes it more difficult.  Interesting...

How so? I didn't find any difference between the medallion and the room key. They casino just stopped cruisers from using it as an ATM. Nothing to do with the method of logging in

For the foreseeable future there will always be those who look for reasons to disparage the entire Medallion program or any of its component parts.

change is very difficult for some people. Much like the angst and hand wringing that accompany moving from any existing technology to another.

think of how happy some would be if they could still order a buggy whip from the Sears Roebuck catalogue.

This is sounding a little complicated but I'm sure it will make more sense once on board.   So, is this correct:

1.  You can use OBC to play in the casino.  (OBC, not free casino play)

2.  You can use cash to play in the casino.

3.  Cash outs are stored in your account until you get the actual cash from the cashier.

Thank you for this answer to my question.  Hopefully, I will win and have something to cash out. LOL

I hosted a "slot pull" on our 2019 cruise and because I wasn't sure how to handle the whole thing, the Casino staff walked me through it all.  I took the cash to cashier and had it loaded to my account then we went to play.  At the end of play, I went to the cashier, cashed out then distributed the amounts to the players waiting in the bar.  I don't remember any issues loading my account later in the evening and playing.  If there was any kind of lock, the Casino manager must have cleared/unlocked my account when we finished play.  I am not planning to do this again but this is good to know if someone else in our Roll call for our January cruise hosts one.

I learn so much in this forum!  Many CC folks offered copious amounts of information when I was putting all the events together in 2019!  (Meet & Greet, $10 limit white-elephant/home state themed gift exchange, inviting officers to the M & G, Name tags, Slot pull and asking Casino for gifts for players, etc.)  Thank you all!!
