What happens to people who get COVID on board?

Just watched The Weekend Cruiser's interesting video about what happens if you test positive aboard a Royal Caribbean cruise (he tested negative before boarding, but came down with symptoms his first day aboard) and I'm curious if anyone knows what happens if a guest tests positive aboard Carnival?

We're booked for the last week of January and I'm just trying to make backup plans for my backup plans!

I thought it was a legitimate question. 🤷‍♀️ I guess I haven’t read specifics on what happens. I’m assuming that your spouse would stay with you in a different room?  We are also booked for the end of January.

If you are going under the assumption of at least I will be able to hang out on my balcony, that is false according to the people in my group on the other site that got moved from a balcony room to an inside room on the 2nd floor.  They did say they were allowed to utilize the drink package although they did not specify how.  I can't imagine a bar waiter is going to be coming down to your room that much.  They also said they delivered them whatever food they wanted and even had the steak house food one night.  I am assuming they had to pay the up charge.

You are NOT quarantined to your room.  I was on the Miracle in September and as it happens the cabin I originally booked was in the Covid HALL. The hallway was "shut off" by the watertight doors, like when you board before 1pm, and those cabins were used for covid cases. Signs on the door warned you not to open them.  I saw food trays and red hazard bags being carried out by housekeeping, but am not aware of how many, if any, cases where on board.  This was on deck 4.

Needles to say, upon boarding I was summoned to guest services, received a new (free upgrade) cabin, and had a great time in Alaska.

Beat me to it Pirate! 🤣 To answer the OPs question, you are moved to the specifically set aside Covid section (leper colony)  On our two week Pride repo, it was Deck 1 Starboard, aft.  We were up the hall and walked by it every day.  As others said, access controlled by the big water tight doors and significant signage.  To the best of my knowledge, our hall stayed quiet the whole 2 weeks.

Latest update onboard Carnival Cruise line 01-03-2022, they take you up to deck 11, you walk the Plank.

Just as long as I get a "final meal" farewell Guy's Burger beforehand.....  😄

Okay, this post contradicts itself.   Doesn't the last part say that you WERE accidentally booked in the COVID Hall and were then upgraded to a different cabin away from the area where people WOULD be quarantined in their rooms?

They are not quarantined to THEIR rooms, they are moved to a quarantine room.

Wondering which area on deck 4, I've got a cabin booked on 4 for my upcoming Alaska cruise. Aft or forward?

There's an awful lot of salty in this post.  For instance, aren't elite casino cruises basically comped?  A refund of nothing is nothing, right?  How did she know how many people were quarantined?  Did she just decide it wasn't for her and went around knocking on doors? This seems more like lashing out than anything fact-based.

Yeah, there are a lot of unanswered questions I see from that post.   Looks like they refunded her port charges and there was nothing else to refund or credit back.  As we've seen from other posts here on CC, if Carnival moves you to an interior quarantine room from, say, a balcony, they will refund you the difference in accommodation charges.

I have no words for this.  I cant believe the number of "I'm Platinum" posts I've seen by people that have absolutely no clue as to how things work on cruises.  Also I'm pretty darn sure that a PCR CT value will not indicate "where" you got COVID.

Yes a CT value alone cannot tell you very much about the viral history, let alone where you contracted the virus.  All of that is speculative on her part

It's everywhere on land too. The ammount of people I keep hearing that are contracting this round is off the charts. So. Many. People. Some nosy person was reading someones texting on plane that they had covid and snapped a screen shot, whoops lol. She isn't the only one. Covid is being carried all over by air travel. There have been cases 5 out of 5 days since school resumed from holiday break and all kids in the state are getting home covid tests. My kids are getting two tests to bring home on Monday. It's nuts everywhere and disingenuous to single out cruise ships. I'm not sure what some of these folks are thinking, it's equivilant to choosing to drive out in a snow storm and then complaining if you get stuck or somthing goes wrong. Nothing new though, blaming everyone/everything else is easier than personal acountability/responsobility. Everyone is a victim.

There were several odd pages for several cruisers aboard our December 2021 Cruise. Then we saw several individuals in Carnival Medical White uniforms rushing a package down the stairwell.

Let's pray that the measures that Carnival has in place continue to help stave off the virus. I am certain that whatever the isolation plan is that it has been thoroughly thought out and continues to work!!

Just got off the dream. There were obvious quarantine rooms randomly around the ship. It sounded like if people tested positive they were moved to an open balcony room and room service was free as well as internet service. I didnt hear anything about drinks. We could tell who was quarantined because the food outside of their rooms were in red biohazard bags. We had one next door to us that “moved in” on day 3 and we heard them on their balcony throughout the day.

I’m thinking its either constantly changing or up to the individual ships what actually happens. It also seemed the covid + got off first, but I’m not 100% sure on that.

I was watching the port Webcam this morning and saw 13 adults and 2 children departing the crew gangway and enter a special van to leave the terminal.

If you believe vaccinated and masks work, what's the problem?

As for me, it's not about believing that "vaccinated and masks work". Masks, vaccines, booster, social distancing are all tools that LESSEN the risk of Covid, not prevent it. It's going to be a Covid risk to travel for a long time, we all have to stay informed, be aware, to all we can to prevent Covid and make a personal decision regarding travel risks.
