Actually if you really want to cancel, a cash refund isn't totally off the table.

If you really want a refund, I'd call them and say their new policies are not acceptable to you and you want a refund.  What's the worst they can say?

If you are referring to the current policy that was due to expire mid-January, it's the same. 

 

If you are referring to previous policy, you were able to go to certain venues restricted to vaccinated (such as the casino) and remove your mask.

I just got this, too.  We sailed in December, so it sounds like the only difference now is no "Vax only" areas?  What does "actively eating and drinking" mean?  Pulling my mask up between sips of wine?  We are scheduled to be back on the Brilliance in two weeks and my TA is no help.

On Jan 31st Harmony - guess we technically have theatre for that cruise even if it's mask theatre and not the shows we want.  Was hoping it wouldn't be extended, bummer.

Bummer, but we'll adjust. Looks like I'll be eating and drinking a lot more than I anticipated I would be doing.

They simply republished the last message with a new date (had the policy through 1/17) they couldn’t just call it a two week extension.

What they want is for guests to be seated while eating and drinking. No strolling up the Promenade with drink in hand and mask on chin...

Ideally they want to folks to behave like on planes/trains where you are supposed to mask up between bites and sips - not going to happen.

No problem.  Been doing this at work for almost 2 years.  I wear one 12 hours a day taking it down for only a quick drink and if I’m lucky a meal.  If a little paper thing over your face is going to ruin your cruise stay home.  Unless the weather is bad you can spend most of your day outside with no mask. 
 

 You will be able to take your mask off during a meal but not walking around with a drink in your hand like we saw on our last cruise.  Sipping beer in the elevator so you can keep your mask down was not fooling anyone.

 

I’m okay with it even in a bar or lounge.  Is it great?  No but it is what it is.  Just get the entertainment crew back on their feet and we’re good to go.

What "things" has NCL canceled?

NCL cancelled two cruises today - one was supposed to sail tomorrow and one is heading back to port instead of doing the Panama Canal.

Forget which ship but it was out of Florida, headed for Panama canal sailing.  Got 2 days in and Captain announced because of Covid cases on board the sailing was cancelled.  Ship returning to Florida.  100% refund and 100% FCC for passengers.  Will dock back in Florida on the 6th.

They cancelled tomorrows Getaway sailing today last minute and turned the Pearl around cancelling the sailing midway and coming back to FL....COVID cases.

Thr extension of this policy now allows anyone on a sailing departing on or before Jan 31 to cancel for a full refund.  Just did 2 this afternoon for clients who had been waiting for this extension.
