irishgal432 Posted January 20, 2022 #1 Share Posted January 20, 2022 According the the schedule Key West (Florida) cruise port schedule | CruiseMapper Key West is accepting cruise ships. I have never been there and am looking at booking a Feb cruise on Jewel, (if it goes) that stops at Key West. Does anyone know if they are turning away ships and not letting them dock? Unless the residents or council decide to allow them again, might be a while. Cruise lines aren't behind any movement to stop going there.

Cruise lines aren't behind any movement to stop going there. This is opinion only. One might glean from a little bit of reading over the last year or so since the Key west ban was overturned by the state. one might postulate that what has been stopping them so far is part of the CSO requiring agreements with the local authorities. Rumor has it the signing authority for the Key West council might have been misplacing or delaying the required agreements for ships larger than those that were covered by the original cruise ship ban. With the CSO now being voluntary (hmmm...is it all are nothing....can a line choose to follow some but not all, such as the local agreements?), it will be seen whether the one private dock there starts scheduling a few of the larger ships, or whether the lines will push the legal issue as far as the government owned docks go. As per Cruise Critic requirement, this is all merely speculation:)
