I'm just not clear on what's (currently) required, although I realize by the time the trip happens things are subject to changes (daily).

I got confused as well, in the end. There has been a recent change which did not help with that. So I hope this is up to date and can help you: https://www.government.nl/topics/coronavirus-covid-19/visiting-the-netherlands-from-abroad notamermaid

It's very confusing following the "if this, then that" options. I get confused after the second click I have to do on that site.

I would advise to the OP to wait to get clearer info elsewhere, seeing it may change again or has not been updated yet, but that may well take too long. Perhaps e-mail to consulate, Dutch government or the cruise line possibly? Good luck. And have a great cruise @cruisestitch notamermaid
Rare Turtles06 Posted January 28, 2022 #6 Share Posted January 28, 2022 (edited) Hello @cruisestitch and @Shmoo here -- my wife and I are in the same "boat" as you, so to speak. We are fully vaxxed and boosted Americans, going on a river cruise out of Amsterdam in April, and spending nearly a week there on our own beforehand. So the subject of what rules apply to us is something I've been trying to keep up on, but the rules have been changing and hopefully will continue to improve for us. There are two sets of "obstacles" (beside pre-travel testing) that I think are in issue. The first is whether we would have to quarantine in the Netherlands after arrival, a requirement that was imposed in December. The good news is that the Netherlands has just announced that we won't. See the article here: https://www.schengenvisainfo.com/news/netherlands-to-lift-quarantine-requirement-for-travellers-who-receive-a-booster-dose/ The second obstacle is that a "Coronavirus Entry Pass" is needed to enter museums, restaurants, etc., in the Netherlands and, right now, based on my research, it does not appear that even fully vaccinated Americans can obtain one. Absent getting one, we'd have to be tested for covid daily. [By contrast, in France, you can present your CDC card at a pharmacy, pay a fee, and get the French "pass sanitaire," similar to the Dutch Entry Pass.] I really hope that the Netherlands will make it possible for us to get the Entry Pass. https://www.government.nl/topics/coronavirus-covid-19/covid-certificate/coronavirus-entry-pass I believe the Dutch government will be looking at their rules again on Feb. 15. It's important for all of us to stay on top of this as best we can. Several threads in this forum as well as in the British Isles/Western Europe forum have been very helpful; you may want to "follow" them: https://boards.cruisecritic.com/topic/2806857-coronavirus-restrictions-in-switzerland-and-netherlands/ https://boards.cruisecritic.com/topic/2819328-amsterdam-how-do-you-get-into-restaurants-etc/ https://boards.cruisecritic.com/topic/2821058-netherlands-now-requires-us-travelers-to-quarantine/ And there are very helpful Europeans here in this forum, including @notamermaid, who are trying to assist us by posting news and helping us navigate the rules. If anyone reading this finds any error in what I've written about the rules and restrictions, please correct me. I am only doing the best I can to figure out from afar what the oft-changing rules are in the Netherlands. Let's all keep our fingers crossed. Rare Turtles06 Posted January 28, 2022 #8 Share Posted January 28, 2022 Looks like major good news just announced by the Netherlands (this is Google's English translation) QR code for vaccinated visitors outside the EU At the central stations of Amsterdam, The Hague, Utrecht and Rotterdam, there will be counters where fully vaccinated visitors from outside the European Union can obtain a corona ticket. This concerns, for example, tourists, business travelers and cabin crew of aviation organizations, who have been vaccinated in their own country but are not connected to the European corona passport. They will soon be able to create a QR code for a short stay, which is valid for a maximum of two weeks. This allows them to use facilities in the Netherlands where a corona ticket is required, such as catering and events. Until now, visitors from outside the EU could only go there once and with a recent negative test result, even if they had been fully vaccinated. The cabinet expects that around 2000 to 2500 people will use the temporary corona admission ticket every day. It is not known exactly when the counters will open. https://nos.nl/liveblog/2414792-ondernemers-krijgen-meer-tijd-om-belasting-te-betalen-onderzoek-naar-luchtzuivering-in-500-klassen
