Another LIVE E-class thread —- Apex 1/29/2022

About the only thing we miss so far is a Beyond the Podium series speaker. We had some very interesting ones in the past —- Mr.  Kennedy from NASA, a speaker that went through the history of rock and roll, another that did a deep dive into the Apollo program. Very interesting.

Hey @KKB the seats in front of us are still empty’! BTW. Did you pull the trigger on the 52 day Edge journey? 
 

We did book the Beyond for 1/29/23.

Not yet. Considering A LOT of longer cruises for 2023-24...Some more than I think we are interested in spending quite yet...but OMG I am DROOLING.

I will look at 1/29/23 on the Beyond--still not sure we are going to be able to cruise on the Apex next month so well may have a credit! (IF they will let us use it on the Beyond...that might be an exception)

Getting ready for tonight’s show. I really like this theatre.

 

 

 

In order to make the 7:30 show we went to Luminae at 5:45. Not crowded at all, even when we left at 6:55. I counted about 24 people.

Also, are there 2 shows per night or was 7:30 the only show time?

That’s right, no Beyond the Podium speaker this cruise.😞

 

Other than the first night, shows are at 7:30 and 9:30.

Thanks for this info. Very sad about the Beyond speakers, especially since lots of passengers are staying on ship rather than taking tours in port. 

 

Glad I won't have to change my dinner reservations to accommodate a change in show times.

The 730 show was tough to make with the speciality restaurants not opening until 6pm and we found ourselves mostly catching the 930 show. By that time I was pretty tired and caught myself following a sleep a few times during the shows. Would almost be perfect if they had some 5pm reservations for us early risers.

That is a tight schedule. Typically we have gone to the later show. Usually hit the casino after dinner and, on Edge/Apex, there has been a game show of some sort in The Club at 8 or 8:30. Then off to the show. 
 

This time, we flipped the order.

I’m looking forward to my February 12 sailing. I’m packing my walking shoes since I am in an aft cabin. Could you possibly find out if the spa is offering a seven day pass and how much it cost to purchase on the ship? I’d like to get a spa pass and a facial but I was wondering if it was a better deal to book it on the ship or book it in advance? Thank you so much. I am looking forward to sailing and the edge class and your daily posts are really getting me excited!

Do you mean to the Thermal spa? I’ll see what I can find out. If they have a price list I get it and post the prices .

There are two ships on the Havensight side. Norwegian Escape and a Princess ship, I think.

Sorry if I missed this, but I am curious about the internet strength.

I seem to recall many in the past were not happy with the strength on this

particular ship. We will have the free elite plus surf….and presume we may want to upgrade. Is the strength of the stream worth upgrading ?

We are not watching movies or things like that but will want to FaceTime 

Our family  and download the daily paper etc.

How are people on board making out ?

Good luck with thermal suite pass pricing. When I was on the Apex in December a one day Thermal suite pass was $89!

We have the Surf + Stream and it can do all the things you mentioned.  I have never had the surf only so I am not sure if it is good enough to FaceTime. Having said that, I am often frustrated with the time it takes to load pages, move from page to page, etc. If you have been fortunate enough to have had the O3b internet on the Oasis class ships, this is a definite step backward. 

 

I am unable to perform a speedtest on my phone or laptop -- keep getting an error. Had the same

problem on the Edge in July & October.

 

Don't quite understand why on the "flagship" the internet is not better. They certainly charge enough for it. Royal charges less for a better product. 

 

And it's not the "well, it's difficult to provide fast internet on a moving ship in the middle of nowhere" excuse. It was no better when we were docked in Fort Lauderdale. My cell signal (not 5G) was better.

In St. Thomas today do you know if Celebrity excursions were required to get off the ship and go to port?

 

I've seen St. Thomas on both the excursion required and not required lists so was hoping to get some live info!  I know things change week to week, but curious what the situation was today. Thank you so much!

Only those 12 and under who are unvaccinated must be on a Celebrity sponsored excursion. Everyone else can do their own thing.

So here is my informal whiskey/bourbon survey results.

 

My preference is Woodford , followed by Bullitt, Buffalo Trace and Makers. So far it has been hit or miss on the Woodford. Not available at Magic Carpet, Pool Bar, Sunset Bar. Have found it in Retreat Lounge and Eden. 
 

Magic Carpet didn’t have Woodford, Bullitt or Makers.
 

Haven’t tried The Club yet. Maybe later today😜.
 

More work needs to be done on this.

Thanks mac_tic for your review.  So looking forward to our cruise in March!  Just curious if you have seen them serving "Dinner on the Edge"  on the Magic Carpet??  Not to be confused with the extension of Raw on 5 for dinner.
