Signed up for the catamaran cruise and snorkel in Bonaire on Nieuw Statendam. Very disappointed. What we saw was mostly dead coral and occasional fish. Registered complaint with HAL and they said  it’s a big park —-SOL.  Save your money and take the Sea Cow excursion—100% better.

Was this the Mushi Mushi catamaran?  We are signed up for it in a couple weeks.  Have made tons of scuba dives in Bonaire so this is really disappointing to hear since there are so many great reefs around there.  Thanks for the heads up.  How many people were on the catamaran?

Maybe too late and they are already full but have you looked at booking a private snorkeling excursion with Woodwind?they are fantastic.

I would echo the other post about the Woodwind which is a private tour boat (primarily a snorkel-based tour) operated by a fantastic lady (Dee) on Bonaire.  And there are other private tour operators who provide some amazing trips for certified SCUBA Divers.   Bonaire still has some decent reef areas that our accessible to snorkel boat operators (especially in the slot between Bonaire and Klein Bonaire) although we think this reef has sustained significant damage over the past 20 years.

We did Sea Cow a few years back and they were excellent-great staff & respectful of the coral and water.

 

We have also used Woodwind several times and also excellent.  Would recommend both.

We've been visiting Bonaire since 2001 and there are two things we do when visiting.  The first, we take the Woodwind excursion (glad to see others agree) and second, we visit Gio's Gelato.

Yet another vote for Woodwind (Dee).  She was great!  We were complete beginners, and they were so good with us.  They divided the group up by experience. Wouldn't hesitate to do them again! The food after the snorkel was very tasty too!

Woodwind is the best! Try booking them, but they do fill up!
