OK - my wife and I drink about 6 or 7 alcoholic drinks a day,  so at a minimum that will equate to about $50  each. So, given that the PP includes autotips and wifi, I fail to see how I can be out of pocket by buying the package.

I look forward to your answer.

Wowzz, given your drinking pattern, it is a non-brainer for you.  For people who drink less (or none), it is probably a non-brainer to skip the package.

As a non-drinker, I am getting the Beverage Package only because the deal I was offered with Plus was too good to turn down -- I couldn't separate out the Premium Beverage Package.  But the value of the Premium Beverage Package to me is only $10 per day, the cost of the Soda package.

We also get a perk from the casino for free drinks in the casino, which is worthless to us.   I sometimes order drinks for someone at the craps table with me, if he/she wants them.

That is the same and only reason we are going with the Premier Beverage Package, just because it was included with the Princess Plus Package. We calculated what this cruise would cost us if we purchased it without the Princess Plus Package. Having to pay separately for the Cruse Fare, the 2 WiFi, and PrePay the Staff Gratuities, it came out more than the Princess Plus Package that includes all of that and includes the Premier Beverage Package with Service Charges included and more (Specialty Dining, stateroom upgrade, etc.). And that doesn't even count what drinks we would purchase onboard. So, in this case it was definitely worth going with the Princess Plus Package and accepting the Premier Drinks Package that comes included with it.

Basically, in rather less words, because it is worth it!😆

On one cruise we took, the Beverage Package was over $100 per day, but they threw it in FREE as a perk. But they did not thrown in the 18% Service Charge on the drinks package. It turned out that even just the 18% Service Charge added up to more than we would have paid buying drinks individually!

I doubt that was on Princess.

To my knowledge if you have the beverage package it always includes the service charge, even if the package was "free" on Princess.

I know that is not true on some other cruise lines.

Definitely was not on Princess. I'm relatively new to Princess. We are only at the Ruby Level and won't make it to Platinum until after this cruise (5 cruises or 50 cruise days). We'll make it up to Elite (150 cruise days) after our 111-day World Cruise on the Island Princess scheduled for January 2023. We took a cruise down the west coast on the Island Princess just to make sure we'd like living on that ship for almost 4 months. We loved it! Princess is now our favorite cruise line. We love jazz and other music, and aren't into all the rides and outdoor entertainment that covers the top deck of many other cruise line ships. Princess seems to have the right mix of what we like. MedallionNet high speed internet is also a huge plus for me as I manage a number of websites that I still have to maintain even while on vacation.
