Are the casino offers delivered in the regular mail or online? I haven't received an offer of any kind for a very long time. I don't know who to contact to get back on their mailing lists.  Thanks for your help.

when I called in on a Casino offer the phone  message said ALL future promotions will only be via electronic deliver, email.  No more flyers or mailing.

Very strange...I got an email with this offer and I have only been to a ship casino once - on my first cruise 16 years ago.

I got one from Carnival and I haven't been on a Carnival ship since 2005!  I know they are Holland America parent company, but still?

If you are wondering how to book the offer, just call your cruise consultant or Holland America direct and you can book through them. Depending on your offer you will need to pay port fees and taxes and a deposit. The deposit is likely refunded on board, either as OBC or through the casino. Check the details in the fine print of the email you received.

We just booked our first casino offer. The stateroom is free (obstructed ocean view), but we had to pay the port fees and taxes as well as $250 CDN deposit each that will be refunded in the form of an onboard credit when we sail.  Payment in full at time of booking. My offer includes a small amount of casino cash and free drinks while in the casino.

Our cruise consultant was able to select the cabin for us (as opposed to booking a "guaranteed cabin"). We are hoping that if this cruise is successful we may receive more offers in the future.

Thats great that you could select the cabin - normally you can only get a guarantee.  What category of ocean view was it (vs the lowest one)?

It's a category HH, fully obstructed. I was able to choose the least obstructed (tail end of a lifeboat) so we may be able to see a little scenery.

I did ask the cruise planner about an upgrade to a verandah stateroom, which she offered to select for me as well. However, the cost difference was significant and since we had to pay up-front we decided on the least expensive option (guess we are not real gamblers after all...)

at the risk of hijacking this thread .. I still will - haha.

With regards to Shareholder OBC benefit, does anyone know if it is applicable to Casino "Private Rate" bookings? We have booked both a Casino 'Free' room as well as a "Private Rate" booking, and although I plan on sending in the application for both, I believe the 'Free" bookings are not eligible. Not sure about the "Private Rate" though and wondering if anyone knows.

I have received it with the Private Rate offers many times.  Never with the free cabin offer though.

Does Holland America give your personal information out to other companies?

I got the new offer email today. Just for the heck of it I looked at an outside website to view some of the itineraries.  I will attach a photo of how the pricing appeared to me. I forwarded this to my mother, who would have the time to travel and she does not see the Mariner Society pricing.

How does this outside company (not HAL)  know to offer me this?

Even though it is not the exact offer I received from HAL ( a Signature Suite, free play and drinks package)., it is very suspicious that that is how it appears for me and not my mother.

This company does have my email address as that is necessary in order to look at their website but I have never booked a cruise with them on any cruise line.

Anyone  else experienced this?

I never get emails from HAL with casino offers, in fact I never get promotional emails from HAL at all.   But I was on the outside TA website and also saw these $200 prices for Alaska cruises, yet when looking at HAL website I never saw the $200 prices.  The prices were more like $600 even when I was logged in.

I went ahead and booked four Alaska cruises at the $200 price plus the port charges, paid in full and non refundable.  I was able to select the outside obstructed view cabin that I wanted.  There was no mention of casino offer or anything when I was talking to the non HAL TA.

When I received my booking confirmation it did mention it was a casino offer and non-commissionable.   Why would the outside TA want to sell cruises that were non commissionable???  How can I find out if the $200 cruise deposit will be refundable as OBC?   There was no mention of this on the booking confirmation.   As it is non commissionable, I assume that I do not qualify for the stockholder credit.  Is there anyway of seeing on board credit or telling if the $200 non refundable cruise price will be refunded as OBC.  Will HAL tell me?  Or do I need to go through the outside TA?

Does anyone else have any experience booking at the outside TA and receiving these super low prices.

Cannot answer all your questions, but as to not seeing the offers on HAL's website, could it be due to who you are logged in as?  When I log in as myself, I do not get the offers, but when I use my DW's account they show up!  Of course, she is the gambler, not me.  Just a thought.

As to the $200 OBC, it shows up on our confirmation from HAL.  These casino offers are non-refundable (thus the $200 cost for a "free cabin"), so be sure you want it when you book or at least take the cruise insurance (it is not much since the cost of the cruise is so low).

Also, no stockholder credit on a casino OFFER, but you do get it when booking with a casino RATE.

Dave,   Remind me again - can I use my OBC in the casino?   This is my shareholder OBC. Thank you

Technically you cannot use it if it supplied by HAL (such as the shareholder credit).  You can if you purchased the OBC yourself or was gifted it by someone else (such as your TA or a friend).

However, on some HAL ships they let this rule slide a bit and let you use it, but I have never found out how to tell if they are going to allow it until after the cruise is over (on my final billing), so I would not count on it.  Better off to use it for something else, such as crew incentives, drinks, shore excursions, spa treatments, the shops, etc.  I have sometimes used it to purchase airport transfers for after the cruise when all else fails.

Thanks Dave.   That is my usual go to also but I am staying over 10 days.  I guess I will be buying armloads of t shirts and perfume for gifts.  😁

I’ve used it, most recently on my December cruise.

$200 gets added to your shipboard account and if you charge $200 to your room while in the casino, it will go on your folio. The OBC has always been credited in full to my folio so it nets out to zero in this example.

I need to gamble more….

I’m doing a 21 day transatlantic with HAL next month. If I make a small donation to the slots ever day, will it put me on the list to get casino offers/rates??

Now that I’m retired, I have both the time and the inclination!

I doubt that anyone knows how much you have to gamble to get the casino offers.  I suspect that it is based on an average per day play however.  IMO, HAL is very generous with their offers, especially now with the low occupancy.

The latest casino offer I received expired on March 15.  Hoping for another one . . . anyone recieved a new offer since the 15th?

I got again the 21 day Panama cruise FLL to Vancouver in April. This cruise also has $50K in casino tournaments on it. Alas I can't go. Already book and RCI Casino Offer to Alaska in early May.

That was the last one sent out other than the special event 21 day cruise with the $50,000 tournament prize. I am sure another will be coming this week or next.
