Vacs and Unvacs

I have just been reading that Royal has places on ships where people who are unvacinated cannot go. My question is this.

How do they know on the ship who is vaccinated and who isn't?  How do they keep unvaccinated out of the area's they are not allowed in?

If they are caught they get to walk the plank.

I saw "Vacs" and thought this was gonna be about those little red "Henry" machines housekeeping uses.  I am disappoint...

Haha I’ll take the hallway with the vacs instead of the unvacs where people are picking up things with tape they run over the carpet hahaha

Almost all of the unvaccinated are little kids.

I think they consider you unvaccinated if you’re with unvaccinated kids.

We wore purple bracelets on Ovation and they had us show them when entering certain areas. If you forgot yours they made you go back for it.

If I had unvaccinated kids, or others in my family, I wouldn't bring them on a cruise ship. It would be awful for someone to get full on deathly ill, without protection, on cruise ships again. It’s not only bad for the ill person being away from home and the best care, but it will ruin cruising for everyone if another serious outbreak happens on board. Why take that kind of risk? There are lots of safer vacations where people aren’t so closely grouped.

Glad to read that most of Royal passengers are Vaccinnated.  I can understand the children. But under 5 may be coming soon.

Carnival is letting both onboard, and not separating them at all. I like Royals rules much better.

Please check your facts.  Carnival, like RCCL, requires everyone 12 and over to be fully vaccinated.  There are a few exemptions for medical reasons.  Well over 95% are required to be vaccinated, including all children.

We were on Anthem in January, and we were given white cloth like bracelets to wear. For the first day or so we were checked when entering venues that we had them but this stopped after a few days. Unfortunately, many of the venues we went to (Boleros, Music Hall, Casino) had many many people in without the bracelets and no one said anything. Chances are that they were all vaccinated and had just forgotten to put the bracelet on, but it was disappointing to see that no-one really cared to check.

Well, since most ships require you to be vaccinated except kids......and if you are a kid in a bar.....they will know.

Last cruise I was on back in December, I often forgot my bracelet; no big deal, nothing was ever said.  I even forget my mask at times, again, nothing said.  On elevators I pretty much always had a mask on unless alone or only with the wife.

Be so glad when we can all ditch these stupid things, not that they do any good anyway.  We've been in double masks at work, with the majority vaxed and even boosted and still had more than 10% of the department test positive since last Friday.  I think we've all been played.

No doubt about it, like a fiddle!

Even more key is the fact the vaccines don't stop the spread. That may have been true early on, but now it's not, so separating vax and unvax is nearly criminal

Exactly.  If anything unvaccinated people have more to be worried about then vaccinated people.  What is the difference between the two groups - that unvaccinated people could become more seriously ill.  Unvaccinated people are the ones taking a bigger risk being among people since vaccinated people supposedly can be contagious.

I'm bringing my unvaccinated 10 year-old on Royal next month.  She and I have both already had covid (caught it on a Royal cruise ship, most likely, back in March 2020 and had very mild symptoms) and she's since been exposed to covid superspreader events, repeatedly, Delta and Omicron, and not gotten it again.  Yes, she was tested each time--negative.  I'd put her immunity against that of a boosted older person any day.  Her risk of serious illness or death is a lot lower than that of a boosted 80 year old with multiple co-morbidities but those people seem to have no problem sailing.  Royal seems to know that too, as vaccines are still not required for those under 12.

Wonder how many contagious people you have walked by, sat near, etc on ships and yet nobody ever wondered or cared- before Covid.   Plenty of diseases to be caught -  should we start a checklist and different bracelets or bands or hell, even forehead tattoos?

The psychology of this statement ought to scare us all...  But it won't . 🤯

Ummm....doesn’t involve psychology.....just needs eyes and people following the rules and having their bracelets on 🙂

unless you are are talking about the psychology of what you do with that information after you find out? If that, I have no idea and my brain doesn’t want to try to examine that haha

We are traveling in a couple of weeks...my 11 year old had Covid in October 2020 and again this January after returning from Christmas Break.  Both mild cases for him thankfully.  We have had no masks where we live since school started in August, hardly any cases this year until the Christmas Break.  I'm not concerned about this trip, just hoping no one is rude to him or us once onboard.
