New Suite Communication - Upper Suite

Today received an email for a cruise 89 days out in Penthouse, giving me the name of my shoreside Concierge with reach number, a list of Suite amenities (with a note - special suite amenities may not be available or offered to buy-up guests), including a link to a web page about the onboard Personal Retreat Host  (will bring me a daily newspaper? Thought those were gone).  There's also a link to chat live with a team member.

I like communication, so thought this is nice. I did not get this for February cruise.

Though it is supposed to be SOP, it seems to have been a little hit and miss.  In a RS in November, and we received the email.  IIRC, acquaintance on same cruise in PH did not and I had to provide him with the person-specific email address for the shoreside concierge for that ship.

I got a similar communication last fall regarding my November cruises in a Royal Suite (with all the features you mentioned above, i.e. click to chat, listing of amenities, etc.)  However, the information sent in the email was incorrect.  The shoreside concierge (with his email and contact number) was the incorrect concierge for the ship I was sailing on.  I found out this info when I tried to communicate with him.  I was then directed to the CORRECT shoreside concierge.  The correct concierge apologized that the website had been populated with incorrect information prior to sending the automated email.

I am in a RS again in 5 weeks and have not heard anything from anyone at Celebrity.  Not surprising.

Good luck with this "automated computer-generated email" information being accurate.

Actually, I sail quite frequently in an upper suite and my "requests" are always the same.  One would think that Celebrity would have an accurate data base created with preferences that were previously asked for by frequent upper suite cruisers.  But, I guess that's way too much to ask! :>)

Nice!  We sail on Friday in a RS.  First communication with shoreside Concierge was last Monday evening in which she asked a bunch of questions and then proceeded to say she was on vacation next several days!  I did hear back from her Saturday and asked additional questions and no response.  There was no link in her email about PRH or a chat live link.

Did she send you arrival information and the placard for the car?  If not, I would ask her for it (since it looks like you are leaving from Fort Lauderdale), give her a day to deliver, and then call the Retreat number and ask for a supervisor.   Everything else can be worked out on board except for that. Have a great trip.

Thanks!  We are leaving out of Ft. Lauderdale.  She asked what time we plan to arrive at the terminal but did not say anything about a placard or where to take our luggage. What does the placard do?  Is it something I can print out?   Last time I called Retreat (a few weeks ago) I was on hold for over an hour!

The placard - which you do print out - would be used to help direct you to the Priority Drop-off area where your luggage would be expedited for delivery and you would be sent to the right place to check in. You don't need the placard, or even all of what I just described,  but you paid for it and should get it.  If you don't get the placard, look for the Priority sign and if there is an agent with a list of passengers your name should be on it.

The placard is only if you're sailing from Terminal 25.

You don't need the placard. Get out at the Priority or Retreat line at the passenger drop off in port, show them your luggage tags, or check in bar code on your app, or just mention you are in an upper level suite, and they will personally escort you from curb to cabin if you're in an upper level suite.

Yes, upper suites are nice and need accurate communication, standard to all of those deemed “ upper suites.”  However, information should be forthcoming and accurate for all clients of Celebrity.  Unfortunately, follow-through is not one of the best things that Celebrity does well.  However, IMHO, The onboard experience is excellent.

Did you get an sign to download for your car when embarking into a CS?

I've downloaded it before and found it more of a pain than to just have Uber pull over at the first open space and drop the bags with the waiting porter.   Never had a delay in receiving our luggage.

One cruise the driver had the sign and the police officer wouldn't let him go to the special area and just blew his whistle and pointed to the nearest open spot on the curb with a scowl.

Interesting reading.  We received an email from a shoreside retreat concierge two weeks ago for the second leg of a B2B departing April 23rd.  Nothing for the first.  We are in the same Sky Suite for both legs and the fact that we are Zenith members of the loyalty program was mentioned.

On my last cruise I got a call from both the Shoreside Concierge and a second call from the Zenith Desk asking the same questions.   I let the Zenith agent know and she assured me she would coordinate with the shoreside concierge.

For the second cruise the shoreside concierge called me while I was on the ship.... I kinda just chuckled.  At least she asked if I would like to just repeat the request I had from the first cruise.

We have sailed several times in a CS including EDGE.  Never received any type of sign.  Is this new?

No, but it's been reported cruisers in upper suites were sent a sign to place on the dash of their arriving car to confirm that they could unload in the "Special Delivery"  or Retreat area. This seems to vary by port. We didn't need it when we arrived, and as Jim_Iain mentioned, some traffic handlers at the port may not even heed the notice.

We sailed in a royal suite for our honeymoon cruise ten years ago and will sail in a celebrity suite next february.  Just out of curiosity, what sort of things do you request from the shoreside concierge?  What questions do they ask?
