Well excuse me for asking the question, sorry I haven't scoured the 2021 threads for this information.

That didn’t seem like a question and I provided info that this is a settled issue for at least a year.

I guess it has been settled to be that Royal can move you to any category cabin since a year ago.  Did not know that.  I guess I am used to it all changing and having to check current protocols like with the masking rules.

I do appreciate everyone sharing information.  Thank you.

I was on Grandeur a couple of weeks ago and they used the stern third floor ocean view cabins for isolation with the water tight door closed shutting them off.  I did hear though some people complaining that they were given an hour to move cabins to accommodate the passengers from our who had failed the disembarkation lateral flow test.

I was very interested to read the terms attached to our recent booking on Quantum, that said RCI will refund entire party travelling if anyone tests positive at terminal check in, or during the cruise.

During the cruise they will pay for all medical expenses on board, as well as quarantining, and refund all cruise costs.

They will also pay a reasonable repatriation amount for the positive passenger and their entire party to return home if one tests positive.

Very reassuring indeed, I was pleasantly surprised, especially since it's so hard to get travel insurance for cruising currently.

That policy has been in affect (with a few modifications) during the whole COVID era - such generosity may not continue.

A person I know tested positive the last sea day and was confined to their existing balcony on Anthem last week..   They were tested because they were doing a b2b cruise.

So I'm guessing they were not allowed to do the second cruise?

True.  They seem to be very few reports....  Yet Royal has to have cabins set aside on each ship and on each cruise - that is the detail I am curious about.  Mainly because I just had a level six cabin assigned that I would have thought was reserved for quarantine.

Don't see many reports from the last month or so of people seeing the signs restricting access to cabins and areas.  Am I missing them?

Symphony had all the inside forward cabins blocked off.  Indy had deck 8 forward insides and balconies blocked off

Not sure whether it is different for Australia sailings, but current website info states they will indeed refund to group if one or more of them tests positive in the 10 days prior to sailing until March 31, 2023.  However, the other expenses if someone tests positive while on the ship is only true until the end of this month.

That's great to hear!
Cruising from Australia has been banned for the last 2 years (finally re-opens April 17th) so I hadn't kept up to date with what was happening in the cruising world 🙂

There are no dates outlined in our terms, however it does say subject to change.
As cruising is only returning to Australia this month, I would hope they would continue this policy for Australian departures for a while yet, as the first cruised won't even depart until Oct this year.

No one is coming to test you.

I do hope that people who are symptomatic have the courtesy to get tested and avoid infecting others.

As said it varies ship by ship and I haven't read any threads since probably February saying they were quarantined in middle of their cruise.

This is a worry, we are doing a b2 b end of May, same cabin for both cruises if one of us or both tested positive when they test on the last sea day, wonder if they confine you to cabin for the rest of the b2b. We have a balcony.

They don't.  They escort you off and send you home.

That would be awful! Wonder if you would have to find accommodation in the port you disembark and wait until you were fit to fly, we are from the UK and our cruise is from Barcelona to Barcelona. Hope this doesn’t happen😢

I'm in the same situation - planning to be pretty careful week 1, but there's plenty of people on the princess boards who were more careful than I am likely to be but still came down with it.

IF either of you test positive on the last sea day of the first leg of the cruise you will then be disembarked at the end of the first cruise.     They will Not let you stay onboard for the 2nd cruise.

If you cruised out of a US Port.    I believe they simply disembark you from the ship.    I have not heard of them arranging for hotels or flights home anymore.

Based on the Barcelona tourism website they have 2 quarantine hotels for positive cases to stay.    It is unknown whether Royal will financially assist with accommodations and meal expenses as they did last year.    I cannot imagine they will continue to do the same this year.    Far too expensive with most ships sailing at 75 to 100% capacity.      Definitely want to buy some covid travel insurance.

Do you need a negative test to fly home to UK?

Yes this has definitely happened.     I was on a b2b recently and know someone who tested positive and was disembarked at port the next day.    They were simply removed from the ship and found their own way home.

If you are in your home country, I think that would be best to just be allowed to seek medical care or go home either by car or after quarantining.  That is exactly what would happen if you were traveling on a land vacation.  reimbursements etc. is usually handle later with insurance claims.

what else do you think should happen?

I don't think anything else needs to be done by Royal.  The days of Royal paying to get people home by private jets or paying expenses to quarantine should be over.

We were on the 1/9/22 sailing of the Odyssey in a balcony.  My husband tested positive on 1/13/22 and was quarantined to an oceanview stateroom on deck 3 until disembarkation in Fort Lauderdale on 1/15/22.  We were supposed to be saying on for a B2B but that did not happen obviously.  We were stuck in Fort Lauderdale until we were allowed to fly home to Canada on the 24th.  I ended up testing positive after being randomly selected for testing at the airport in Montreal on the way home .  I have a live thread from the cruise if you want to go back and read the details.

This b2b was originally booked 3years ago and has been cancelled and rebooked three times, we have another b2b later in September, used to love doing the longer cruises but now it’s just more to go wrong!

Yes. I have first hand knowledge. I was on Mariner for 6 B2B's starting on 4/5. I tested on 4/8 for the next cruise and tested positive. I was immediately moved to deck 2 and placed in isolation and escorted off the ship the next day. I've currently missed 2 cruises and still testing positive.
