B2B under two different names

I have a cruise booked under my VIFP number and during the 50th Birthday offer we were able to get the cruise just before it with the same cabin under my husband's VIFP number.  (Wasn't listed for 50% off under mine.)  Both cruises will be paid for with the same credit card.  Do I have to do anything before boarding so as to not having to move during turn around day?

I suspect 99.9% of people who do a B2B have both of them purchased with the names in the exact same sequence.  So I won't be surprised if no one has first hand experience with this.

Personally, I don't know if Carnival "links" B2B reservations in their system.  Someone else may be able to answer that one.  I know some other cruise lines do this and that helps "the process".  I think it's even possible that they may only be able to link cruise with the matching names in the same order.  But who knows.   You should call Carnival pre-cruise and see if they can/need to link your reservations between the two cruises.

No matter what you can do before the cruise, I would advise you to stop at guest services on day 2 or 3 of your first cruise and let them know your situation so that they can properly put you on their list of B2B passengers if it isn't already there.  This is what ensures they do the proper processing for your second cruise -- getting you key cards, processing you off/on cruise1 to cruise2, etc.

As for your cabin contents, that's mostly between you and your cabin steward.  Work with him/her to make sure they are aware of the situation so they know what's going on.

I think if you do the stuff I mention above on the ship, I'm confident you will be all set to just leave your belongings in your cabin and be processed as all other B2B passengers on turnaround day.

Enjoy your cruise.

Carnival will know you are on a B2B. They will leave all the info on how the B2B works in your cabin a few days before your first cruise ends. Always a good idea to stop by guest services and advise them first or second day of 1st cruise.

Do you have the same cabin for both cruises? If you do then there should be no reason to move. Everyone's advice about contacting guest services just so they know is a good idea.

Does anyone know if there is a similar procedure for side by side cruises? Doing Splendor to Alaska then getting onto the Spirit right next to the Splendor on May 10th.

No help there. You will have to disembark Splendor and will likely have a wait until your check-in time for Spirit. We did a SxS in Miami once and were allowed to check our bags early; jumped in a taxi to go fetch wine, soda and incidentals for the second cruise. There is a lull between cruises and they won't be expecting guests checking bags for Spirit so early.

Curious how they handle your Covid testing. Seems they now leave need for testing on B2B to discretion of Medical Director. They were offering free testing for Carnival SxS.

We did a B2B on the MG in Feb.  For the first cruise I was in a room with my mom and my husband was in a room with my dad because my parents had the casino rate.  The second week my husband and I were booked in the same room (the room i had booked with my mom on the first week) since my parents were only doing the 1 week with us.  We just stopped at guest services to confirm we were listed on the B2B list and everything went smoothly when the time came.

You do need to arrange for your COVID test for the 2nd cruise.  I believe they will do it for you on the first cruise but you should call to confirm that.
