barb in ga Posted May 24, 2022 #1 Share Posted May 24, 2022 We have 2 connecting balcony cabins paid for 2 people in each. Now one of the people can't go. We sail very soon and know we won't get a refund for the guest who isn't going, but I'm wondering about the port taxes. I expect to just wait until check-in to let the ship know we have a no-show. Is there anything else we need to do? Thanks
Sunshine3601 Posted May 24, 2022 #2 Share Posted May 24, 2022 Yes, no shows should receive refund of port fees & taxes.
sandy toes Posted May 24, 2022 #3 Share Posted May 24, 2022 (edited) Great plan. Yes. They will be refunded. In my experience, back to the card that originally paid, not to an OBC. Is their absence due to Covid? That is another issue. Royal may still be doing FCC for people with Covid. If not, contact the insurance company you used and notify them. You should get a full refund. Put the person with the highest C&A points in the cabin which will have a single person and hope that person gets the extra point for being solo. matj2000 Posted May 25, 2022 #7 Share Posted May 25, 2022 Why can't they go?
Ashland Posted May 25, 2022 #8 Share Posted May 25, 2022 You don't need to tell anyone at the port terminal or onboard that you'll have a no show...no one actually cares.. The port fee/taxes will automatically be refunded to the credit card that made the final payment for this person.
barb in ga Posted May 25, 2022 Author #9 Share Posted May 25, 2022 Biker 19--thanks for the idea, but not practical for us. The single person is my son and the adjoining cabin is his wife and daughter. DH and I were in an adjacent balcony, but scored Royal Up today for a JS which is still nearby. My son and his family are cruising for the first time, so aren't yet C&A members. DH and I are both D+, but 400+ points from hitting Pinnacle. Matj2000--one of my other granddaughters was scheduled to come, but can't be with us. Her parents, my other son and DIL, also had an adjacent balcony which we were able to cancel 30 days out when they found that the 3 of them couldn't travel at this time. The final embarkation customer tally will tell them who was a no show -all those get their taxes/fees refunded.
