Yes, I think that's correct. In my example, I hadn't booked the cruise yet, but I was planning to, so I checked the spreadsheet linked in this thread to see if there were any referral links. I picked one, clicked on it, and booked. We both got loot, and I don't think we are otherwise linked or messed up. I haven't seen any evidence of that so far anyway. If you, who are already booked, want to share loot with a stranger, but without the risk of getting linked, you would share just your referral link here, but not your booking # or name. If someone who has not booked but is planning to wanted loot, they would use your link and you both would get loot, but no other attachment. The hypothesis is that the referral link is anonymous but booking # & name is not. Once both parties are booked there really is no going back without the risk of a troublesome attachment on board it seems.

it doesn't seem like any of this is malicious (although posting personal info in a FB group - even private! - is kind of a risky proposition, as i believe anyone could just cancel your reservation entirely with that info!) 

 

I believe there is a work around. Go to Messenger, select contacts, open the profile of any one of the names linked to your cabin, turn off "Allow to see what I'm attending."  This *should* ensure no one accidentally alters your plans. 

 

However, in the way of silly VV software design and function, if you turn off Allow to See for one of your contacts - none of them can see.

 

Another workaround would be to "Remove Contact" from your list but I don't know if that impacts the sail with friends sailor loot you might receive.

This doesn't connect anything in the app, right? That's a separate process I think...

This DOES connect you in the app.  My TA suggested that I remove anyone I was linked with after boarding and after I saw my loot in the app. She said that if I unlinked them before that, it might mess with my loot.   People you are linked with in the app can mess with your various reservations.  As to giving people your information, what I do is to give them my TA's information and ask that they contact her.  She will then call VV for us so the other party will never have my booking number and I will never have their's.  However, the linkage in the app will still exist.
