How is the weather today? Hope it improves. Are you going to make it to Mexico tomorrow or are they avoiding the storm?

The weather is cloudy and rainy again today. I had decided I wasn't going to go ashore anyway, so I am not too sad about it. The only thing I am a little worried about is that others will choose to stay onboard as well and everything will be as crowded as it was yesterday.

Nothing official about skipping Cozumel yet. I had already canceled my shore excursion on the first day in anticipation of the bad weather though.

Yes, we saw the black vans and medical people in their infection control gear.   Our friends had to take a special elevator down the then and then were driven to their own car, which they were allowed to drive home.

The masks were not an issue, but we did find eating outside all the time burdensome.  We missed the main dining room and actually being served in Cafe al Bacio.   The ambiance is not quite the same when you’re eating the lemon tarts off a paper napkin balanced on your lap and overlooking life boats. Lol.

Yes, we were tested Sat. on this cruise on 5/28, DH positive, escorted to black van and driven to our hotel for a 5-night isolation stay, where we are now.  Also, the ship had wonderful wooden chairs aft outside the Ocean View and also mid-ship 5 on starboard (midship 5 port is smoking area), but they had NO CUSHIONS on the hard, wooden chairs.  Course, the smokers got cushions.  What?  So, can't really sit on them outside for more than a few minutes.  Tried stacking pool towels, but just not comfortable.  Clearly they have cushions, but choose not to put them on chairs for other than the smokers.

Not likely to post a picture of myself, as I have a pretty strict policy against selfies, but here are some links to give you an idea:

I have 4 of these shirts, two white, one navy, and one black for wearing over my camisoles:

Just curious:  In my experience linen wrinkles badly when packed and needs to be ironed before wearing.  Since irons and steamers are not allowed on Celebrity, how do you pack the linen shirts to avoid wrinkles or are these shirts wrinkle resistant?  Thanks for your thorough and interesting review.  We are enjoying following along and look forward to meeting you onboard one day.

Jamie, you may have just changed my life with the words “Grand Mimosa”. That sounds delicious and is definitely something I’m going to get on my next cruise.

Thank you for taking us along on your cruise!

Please keep us posted if you hear anything. My sister is onboard.

I use a technique called bundle packing (search on YouTube, it will change your life) which minimizes wrinkles and I use Downy Wrinkle Release spray to get our the few wrinkles/creases I do get. The wrinkle release spray seems to work especially well on linen.

Thanks so much for your quick response.  I'll research YouTube and pack some wrinkle release too!

Thank you for your daily recaps! So fun to read, and I have to write down some new drinks to try on our same Equinox cruise on 6/12! And now I have to play that Inca machine. 🤣  No doubt, you are getting me more excited for our upcoming trip. 😄

You may not have paid attention, but still inquiring. Have you seen teens onboard? I have a 14 year old and I have noticed our sailing has a lot of open cabins still. Hoping she will have a few teens onboard to connect with as that is a big part of her her fun with cruising.

I have definitely seen some teens onboard and more small children than I have ever seen on Celebrity. One of the couples I've befriended has small children who and loving the kids club. I see activities listed all the time for the teen club as well.

Yes, it is Isaiah in the WCB with Z this week. Honestly, not a fan. I get to WCB right at 5:00 most evenings and poor Z is there all by herself and making 4-5 drinks at a time for the initial rush. Isaiah strolls in 20-ish minutes late. This has happened all three nights of the cruise so far. I keep asking Z where her partner in crime is and she gives an exasperated "I have no idea".

My husband and I were on the Equinox the end of April. We visited the WCB every night, usually arriving before 5PM. Isaiah was fantastic. He was the one to open and handle the drink orders every night until about 5:30, when his other half arrived. I think one may be scheduled to arrive later and that one could be the one to close down at the end of the night?

Maybe, though I did ask Z if Isaiah coming late meant she got to leave early and she said no.

- I agree! LOL

"I didn't dilly dally too long at WCB, because it was lobster night in the MDR! For me lobster night is a big deal, not because of the lobster, but because it's the night they have Blue Cheese Soufflé!!!"

- I doubly agree! Being from NS, Canada, the lobster isn't what I go for on Celebrity; however, I LOVE that blue cheese souffle as well.  It tastes like a dip! I've been looking ahead at my next cruise menus to make sure I don't miss it LOL.  Cheers! I've been loving your posts.

Jamie, what do you enjoy most about cruising solo?  Also, what would be your dream cruise anywhere in the world?

My dream cruise is a world cruise. Viking was doing one as COVID happened that was over 200 days and stopped at 90-something ports, if I remember correctly. Something like that would be amazing. My husband and I have a tentative plan to put all of our stuff in storage when retire, do a world cruise, then get a cheap one-bedroom or studio condo in Miami or Ft. Lauderdale and cruise 2-3 weeks out of every month.

Sailing solo... I guess the only thing I like over cruising with my husband is being more social. When I am cruising with my husband we are more "self-contained". In order to not be lonely on a solo cruise, I definitely strike up more conversations with strangers and do sharing tables at dinner. So I put myself out there more and meet some amazing people. My husband I do that when we sail together too, but not to such a great extent.

So, what book did you finish that  left you embarrassingly crying in public with your coffee?  I always manage to read at least a couple of books.

It was called Dead Certain. It was one of the ones I got free through Amazon First Reads for having an Amazon Prime subscription. I stockpile the free books throughout the year and read them on cruises. I almost never read at home, but I love reading on cruises.

Prior to retirement, I always thought we would want to do something like living on an island or the world cruise for a year or two.  The reality is by retirement for the vast majority of us is that there are health issues of one kind or another.  Whether it is just a simple eye exam or annual check up (which I would never do after a cruise LOL)  finding doctors along the way would be nearly impossible.  Also, as nice as a cruise cabin is, I would go stir crazy.  It would be nice to live near a cruise port such as FLL and just cruise once a month.  We are in Tampa but the cruises are so limited.

Really enjoying reading your posts and we just booked on the Equinox for next January.

Yeah, that was the idea with the cruising 2-3 weeks out of the month. We would have a "home base" to do doctors appointments, laundry, check mail, etc. We plan to retire at 55, so hopefully won't be in too bad of shape at that point. Things might slow down as we age, though.

I agree, we were on EQ end of March and it was the same.  I thought Isaiah was great.
