Pre-Cruise Covid Testing In Miami

Recommended Posts

We are due to board the NCL Sky on January 3 (I know - several months away yet, and things could surely change, but)...

We fly out to Miami on January 2nd (from the West Coast) airline tickets already purchased

NCL says that if we embark on a Tuesday (January 3rd) the earliest we can have a pre-boarding Covid test would be the Sunday prior - which, in this case is January 1st (New Year's Day)

Local testing locations that we have used for other cruises (Walgreens) are not open (for testing) on Holidays

So - looking for somewhere in Miami - convenient to get Covid testing when we land in Miami on January 2nd (at 4:30 PM)

Any suggestions ?

Thank you for any help that can be provided

I found a Walgreens a block from my hotel and should be able to schedule appointments 2 weeks prior, so that's what I'm hoping to use. I'm wondering though -- here in NYC, there are COVID testing booths set up on almost every corner. Is it like that in Miami, and if so, are those valid for pre-cruise testing?

Go to Curative.com.  They have been offering free tests for US residents who have health insurance.  There are lots fo test sites in the Ft. L. and Miami area.

It looks like travel is not covered by insurance. Am I correct? If so, do you think free testing was available in the past and is not currently available?

Under what circumstances is COVID-19 Testing not covered by private insurance?

COVID-19 testing is NOT reimbursable by private insurance (outside the state of California) for purposes including, but not limited to, the following:

  1. Epidemiological purposes
  2. Surveillance
  3. Community tracking
  4. Employment purposes, including staffing decisions
  5. Determine need for personal protective equipment
  6. Screening (e.g., travel, sports, school, camp, recreational, social requirement)
