Are you asking about a free or upsell? From a balcony or different cabin? These kind of details might help with a response.

Sometimes. But again, ask on your roll call to find out if anyone on your particular cruise got an upgrade.

Maybe. Depends on many factors including what category you originally booked. Upgrades tend to be, but not always, in the same or next category. Be satisfied in the cabin you booked.

If you have the highest grade balcony cabin, you might be in with a chance, but only a very slim one!

I am on that cruise and this morning I got an email Upsell offer. Since this is our 50th anniversary cruise we decided to go for broke and asked for a specific suite - M723. Within 20 minutes we received confirmation of that cabin. 

 

The rollcall for this cruise is sparse and has not addressed this issue that I can see.

Upgrades are usually to a higher category of the same type. There is no charge for this

 

An upsell moves you to a higher type cabin. There is a cost for these.

We also received an email today for a $199pp upgrade to a mini suite.  We passed.  We really don't need that extra room and don't want to give up our regular balcony cabin which has a larger balcony.
