A beautiful morning at sea as we sail back to Cape Liberty.

We we’re honored to attend a bridge tour where I took this photo. The tour was extremely informative.

A thorough review will be forthcoming.

Today we plan on enjoying the fair winds and following seas🥂

For those of you on the next sailing, Prez is scheduled to leave tomorrow for a two-month break.

Yuksel, Andy, Moniek and Joana, all in Luminae, have provided incredibly warm and professional service.

As a matter of fact, we have had a rough two days with not being able to use our balcony in the way that we wished. The crew in Luminae saved each evening for us and the quite  possibly the cruise.

Yuksel is by far my favorite Maitre'd.  And I cannot say enough good things about both Moniek and Joana.  Moniek is such a sweet young lady and is #1 in service, in my opinion.  She's the best.  Joana was also top notch - always prompt and pleasant service.  We've had the pleasure of sailing with all three of these stellar individuals quite a few times.  I don't know Andy as he never waited on us but if he is led by Yuksel I'm sure he's stellar.

Prez was our cabin attendant when we sailed in July.  Unfortunately half-way through the cruise he became sick - tested negative for Covid but was put in quarantine nonetheless.  We really missed him as for the remainder of the cruise we were taken care of by the "B team" (as I called them...a young man and a young lady from the Housekeeping Department!)  We wanted to make sure Prez was properly rewarded for taking such good care of us so we gave an envelope to Tanja, the Housekeeping Supervisor on Deck 10 (who was previously our stateroom attendant last year on SM) to give him.

Enjoy your last day onboard my favorite ship.

A quick question: Is Diet Tonic readily available at The Retreat Bar?  I just realized how much lower in calories it is than Regular Tonic Water, but who's counting! 😉  Thanks in advance.

I see this request from time to time and find it puzzling!  REAL tonic water has no sugar added.  I'm not sure when some of the manufacturers started to add it, but these days, you find a lot of them with either corn syrup or agave or something else sweet.  They shouldn't talk about 'diet' tonic water.  It should be 'tonic water' and 'sweetened tonic water'!

My last two cruises on celebrity was a penthouse last July ( move up) and a royal suite, next one is corner aft sky suite on beyond, which I am sure will be nice but definitely not a penthouse, might need another move up.

We are bidding on Move Ups to Aqua class and various suites for our October cruise on Summit.   We have never sailed in anything better than Concierge Class.  After hearing about this "addiction " issue, maybe we should worrying we get a suite?

Nah.  I'll bravely face the addiction if it occurs.  My kids might complain however.

Jim/Iain, Enjoy your upcoming 35 days onboard the Summit.  So jealous.  Still our favorite ship.  A long 9 months to next May for our next cruise on her.  Will you be doing your onboard writeups as usual? Bon Voyage.

Firstly, a trip to CVS to procure our insurance policy against covid ... paxlovoid. I am so thankful that my rheumatologist is so proactive. I had to chuckle at his IM to me about the script:

Thanks, I just sent my rheumatologist a message asking for this as well.

Tell Pres to have a wonderful vacation!  Maybe he'll be back for our October cruise.  I'm in the same neighborhood where I was on the spring repo, so it would be great to have him as my cabin attendant again.

I did share your best regards with Prez.

He may be you butler on your next cruise👍

I agree the A Team is led by Yuksel! Andy is excellent and works in tandem with Moniek and Joana.

Our last day passed too quickly!

Greetings all!

We hit the immersion back to the real world quickly on Sunday.

@DJsDH hit the road on Tuesday and is away until Friday. I am recovering from reentry into the real world with laundry, doctors' appointments, mail and the rest that comes with being away.

So this thread will become more of an almost live report🙃

Embarkation Day - 7/31

A little after 1 p.m. it was announced that suites and staterooms were ready.

We headed to our home for the week, RS 6141.

The living room

Our welcome bottle of champagne.

When we asked our Butler, Ronald, about Perrier-Jouet (PJ) we were told that there was none on board. He also said that there hadn't been any PJ on board for more than a month.  The substitute was Cattier (https://www.cattier.com/en/)

We asked Ronald if it was possible to get a bottle of Taittinger. He said that he would see what he could find. About 30 minutes later he presented us with a cold bold of Taittinger and told us it was the last bottle he could find.

We thanked him and reviewed the requests, which I had printed out,  we made of the Shore Side Concierge.

@DJsDH then continued the tour of our suite.

The walk-in closet and the entry to the bathroom.

The bathroom storage behind the door.

The sinks and tub. We both loved the layout of the sink area and the lighting in this area.

Another view of the tub and the shower. We found the lighting in the shower very dim.

We then checked out the bedroom.

What was the original bottle of champagne that was left prior to your request?

Caittier. It was also served in Luminae and the Retreat.

We brought our own bottle of Veuve Clicquot on board with us.

We then headed out to the balcony, which was the main reason we selected the RS.

It did not disappoint!

The New York skyline from our balcony.

Our luggage was delivered into our suite by Prez. He made sure that we had a US extension cord and surge protector for our CPAPS as well as distilled water for the machines.

We were invited to the helipad for the sail away from Cape Liberty.

Fruity alcohol drinks and bottled water were offered.

This was our first sail away from the helipad. The views were incredible.

The Teardrop Memorial

As grandchildren and great grandchildren of immigrants, it was quite stirring to see the Statue of Liberty from the deck of a ship.  It is because of the foresight of our foreparents that we were able to experience a very different sailing.

Perhaps Kenny Chesney said it best in his song "Streets"

"Faith believes what it can't see
And who we are, and who we're gonna be
Our Lady in the harbor shining like a citadel"

We then made our way up to the Retreat Sundeck where we approached the Narrows and the Verrazzano Bridge.

@DisneyJen I'm so happy to see that you are continuing on with your review.  Summit is my favorite Celebrity ship and I am a huge, huge fan of the RS.  In spite of the AC problems we experienced in our RS last month, we're already re-booked in RS for next April!

We then made our way back to our suite and popped a bottle of champagne to toast each other bon voyage.

As I mentioned earlier, when we were in Luminae at lunch there were two large groups. A multigenerational family of 10 and another group of five couples.

Since @DJsDHand I wanted a quieter and social distanced dining experience we asked Yuksel, the most excellent maitre d' of Luminae, if he knew when the groups planned on dining. He told us that both parties planned on dining around 5:45 p.m. He told us to call him when we were ready to dine and he would see that we would have a table that met our request.

During the week, even if we didn't call, Yuksel made sure that our request was met as soon as possible. One evening he suggested we have a seat outside the restaurant on the sofa. He then had Joana, the sommelier, come over and offer us a beverage.

This thoughtfulness was greatly appreciated!

I didn't take photos of our food this trip as @DJsDHwould roll his eyes every time I took out the iPhone🤣

Our wait team of Andy and Moniek were outstanding the whole week as well.

For our first dinner, @DJsDH started with French Onion Soup and the Caesar Salad from the MDR menu. He then had the Veal Cannelloni. I started with the Escargot and Caesar Salad from the MDR menu and the the Grilled NY Strip Steak. Everything was very good.

We passed on dessert as we were full.

We stopped by the Retreat for an after dinner drink. The casino was booming as we made our way to the cocoon of The Retreat.

After a very full day we headed back to the suite where we lounged on the balcony under star lit skies with gentle seas. It was the perfect ending for our first day at sea since the pandemic.

Thanks for reading @jcpc! I always find it a bit frustrating when someone starts a review and doesn't finish it.  I usually start out with the best intentions of real-time reporting but end up taking notes at the end of each day to job my memory when I get home.

@DJsDH and I both need it cool to cold to sleep. The A/C in 6141 worked extremely well. We also travel with a small USB fan. We placed that in the porthole window and it moved the air perfectly each night!
