Good morning to all. We have been to Porto and enjoyed our day there. I will spare you my pictures.

Please post a few, everyone has a different perspective. Many times your photos may show something that someone else didn't see, or didn't see in the same way.

Well I am sure it is not a surprise to anyone that we all are testing positive for Covid this morning. My DH has a number of medical problems and I am worried about him but we are all concerned about Tana.Three of us will start the pavloxid and we will all hope for the best. Our neighbors are still testing positive but said all their  cases were mild. Let us hope that is the story here.

Terry

So sorry to hear you all have covid. Hopefully it will be mild and you all recover quickly.

Good morning everyone. Another 90 degree day here. I had the sweetest father in law. He came here from Russia when he was 18 years old.  Love cheesecake but not the quote.

Planning to go to the pool if the humidity isn’t overwhelming.

Stay safe everyone,

Carol

What a shame you all came down with it, and by that I think you mean Tana along with you and DH.  That's quite worrisome!  I hope the Paxlovid does its job and you are all better right away.🙏

Good morning all!

I never got to know my Father-in-Law very well, I met DH when he was stationed in CA where I was living and his family all lived in Savannah.  His Dad passed from Pancreatic cancer in the early 80's.  He was a sweet and caring man, I would have liked to know him better.

Friendship is very important to me, especially the one I have with my BFF since 1960.  Cheesecake isn't high on my list of desserts, but sometimes a small piece is nice.  I'll pass on the meal and drink, but this white wine sounds nice.  Have never been to the port, thank you Sandi @StLouisCruisersand Rich @richwmnfor the photos.

Speaking of photos, @ottahand7your cabin seems so peaceful and idyllic, thank you for sharing!

Oh no Terry @smitty34877I'm SO sorry to hear that you all have Covid.  I was so hoping it would miss the rest of you.  Prayers for mild cases.

Today will be a quiet day, just keeping cool because it's supposed to be our warmest day yet before a cooling trend next week.

Have a great day everyone!

We visited Porto in 2019 while on the Amsterdam.  As others have said, we would have loved to have spent more time there.  Today and tomorrow are packing days for our flight to Boston where we’ll board the N. Statendam on Wednesday.  Fingers crossed that I won’t be reporting back on how the ship handles Covid!

Here are just a few of the photos I took in Porto.

I have mentioned a couple of time that I took a 14 day land trip between two cruises a few years ago. Porto was one of the places I stayed for a short 3 days. I wish it had been more.

The first two pictures are of the area around my hotel, then the hotel itself. The rest are around Porto, many from the HoHo bus.

Thanks for our Saturday Daily, Rich.

Friendship is so important and deserves celebrating.  My FIL passed away many years ago, sadly.

I don’t like today’s quote - I do NOT want to freeze this moment in time.  We were in Leixoes & Porto on our last cruise on the EE.  Fabulous - loved it and would love to go back.  I will look for pics and post them later (unless they are duplicates) when I get back.

On the agenda today - get the bundle of trouble in a kennel so I can go out & buy her a different harness & leash in the hopes that helps 🤞 She does NOT want to go in the kennel.  I’ve left her out while I am here but I don’t dare when I am out.  Maybe she will learn that it isn’t for a long time?

Oh, did I say she was blocked from the garden?  Where there’s a will, there’s a way.

Prayers for everyone on the Care list & for those that need them and a 🥂 to those on the Celebratory / Shout Out list.

Have a great Saturday everyone !!!!!

Stay safe & please don’t forget your 😷 when / where needed.

Shadow always looks alert.

Good morning from breezy, sunny, etc. central Texas.

My father-in-law was a very nice man, and a very good father-in-law.  Sadly, he died in 1997.  I think my father, who died in 1993, was a good father-in-law to DH who he welcomed into the family.  Friendship is important, and we celebrate it everyday on the Fleet/Daily.  I love cheesecake, but have not made it yet.  I usually get in in the Lido on BHBs at lunchtime, and my waistline is glad they are now serving small pieces.

In some ways, I'd like to freeze time to before Covid, but in others I want to see what is ahead for us.

We'll pass on the meal (tofu), drink and wine.  I'll also switch my tofu with cheesecake.  @0106  Tina, thanks for sharing methods to prepare tofu.  Younger DD, a vegetarian, likes it if it is really crispy.

We have been to Porto at least three times on BHBs.  And I'll share the pictures I posted last year in a few minutes.

@rafinmd  Roy, thanks for putting DH on the care list, but he is waiting for an appointment with a neurosurgeon in Dallas.  We saw the dermatologist Wednesday since we called for an appointment just as they had a cancelation.

@MISTER 67  Good to see you are out of your slump on the golf course and shot under your age by three strokes.

@kazu  Shadow, looks very relaxed in the picture of her lying down.  I like the nickname   Bundle of Trouble as I can sense the love and caring behind the name.  Shelters should send a copy of the meme home with every adopted dog or cat.

@smitty34877  😱  I'm sorry everyone has tested positive, and hope the Paxlovid helps making the cases mild and that everyone recovers quickly, especially those with other health issues.  I feel so sorry for Tana's son as he must be feeling very guilty about unknowingly brining Covid into the house.

@marshhawk  Ann, I'm glad you found a way to enjoy dinner and still keep your blood sugar from spiking.

@Mtn2Sea  An early wish for safe travels and enjoy your curise.

Thanks to @richwmnRich and @Mtn2SeaRobert for your photos of Porto.  Like Rich said, everybody can go to the same place and all do different things so please go ahead and post your own photos.

Robert I hope you don't have to report back from NS on how they handle Covid either. Stay safe and enjoy your cruise!

The rain storm we had last night must have had higher winds than I thought.  I heard someone running a piece of equipment out back so took a look out the window.  Right along the golf cart path were some golf course maintenance people cutting up the upper part of a huge pine tree that broke off in the middle and fell onto the path and course.  All they did is haul off the top half debris, but left the remainder of the tree with the jagged break about 20 feet up from the ground.  I really, really hope this project isn't finished because it looks terrible.  You would think they'd want the view along the path to look nice.  At least that's what I think a golf course would want!

We've been to Leixos and Porto three times, and for once all on HAL.  In 2004 on the Noordam and 2008 on the Prinsendam, we stayed in Oporto.  The first time, we took the shuttle into town and walked around.  The second visit, we took the HO-HO and also did a tour of the Sandeman cellars.  In 2011, we did a tour to Guimaraes to see an old castle and the town.  I'll post the pictures of Guimaraes in another post.

Here are some of my pictures of Porto and Leixos, and I'll try not to duplicate previous pictures, which I enjoyed.  I agree the train station is amazing.  We often find ourselves checking out local stations, but none beat the one in Porto.

I'll start with Sandeman

After the tour and tasting, we took a boat tour on the Douro River.

Good afternoon.

It is 72°F here now.

We went for lunch at a local garden centre then went to see the Darwin house from

The Canoe Man TV series.

He faked his death by drowning for 5.5 years while actually living in their empty house next door to his own house where his wife lived in Seaton Carew England.

In 2011, we took a tour to Guimaraes about 55km outside of Porto.  It is known for it's well preserved medieval buildings, including Guimaraes Castle.

A few of pictures of the castle.  The bright lights inside play havoc with pictures, and the camera cannot do the stained glass windows in the chapel justice.
