I'm in Atlanta, land of 500 Waffle Houses, renowned (even unto FEMA's "Waffle House Index") for their 24-hour service...and many of our Waffle Houses now close at 9pm. In one special in-town case, they are now only open from 5 am - 2 pm. 😮 Yea, verily, the struggle is real. You can wear shorts at the Local too....there are things on other lines that do things better than Carnival whether you can accept it or not. It's cute to think that you are somehow saving money through NCL. 1 1

I don't book with blinders on and I also don't keep all of my eggs in one basket. My past and future bookings are in my signature if you have them turned on. It's nice that Celebrity, Princess, MSC and NCL all package things together. It may not be right for you, but it's right for me. Every cruise line has their pluses and minuses and a plus that NCL has is their 24 hour sit down venue. Currently have 47 days booked on the Excel Class as well as 25 days booked on the Prima Class. Rare BlerkOne Posted August 6, 2022 #54 Share Posted August 6, 2022 A huge plus is NCL charges 20% gratuities on top of their free (HA) packages whether you use them or not.

I can categorically state that I've never eaten puzza at 2 or 3 am. 😄 More seriously, I've certainly had pizza on Carnival at 2 am, since I'm a night-owl. And while there are usually some kids in line at night, there are certainly plenty of adults.

Since everyone isn't from the same time zone, 2AM on a lot of cruises(east coast), would only be midnight for me, which is perfect time to start heading out of the casino to grab a quick slice of pizza. Those that wish to get the sail away rate can't get it most of the time online since it comes up as sold out. Would have to assume it's because of getting gobbled up by travel agencies. But the drink package is where they really gouge you. Again, you are only paying $20/day, including port days for a free package, but that is only gratuities. The cost of the free drink package is built into the fare. There are no free drinks.

Thank you NCL has a number of extra charge restaurants, besides the regular (included) dining rooms. In order to sell cruises, NCL likes to bundle various packages, including a dining package, to make potential customers think they are getting a better deal than they are. A dining packages consists of one or more meals in one of the specialty, extra charge restaurants. You can get some bundled with the price of your cruise, or you can purchase on your own. https://www.ncl.com/onboard-packages/dining-packages

Travel agencies hold group space on certain sailings all of the time and then release them back into inventory X number of weeks prior to sailing if not sold, correct? Doesn't the same apply to the sailaway rate? I would not get it, but every time I am on the NCL website, the sailaway rate is never available. Snowflake luvr Posted August 8, 2022 #69 Share Posted August 8, 2022 I would not stand in line for that pizza no matter what time it is. Msc eould put pizzas on the buffet line and you got what uou wanted and it was 10 times more to my liking. The pizza line was always too long. I am going to head off that person that is going to say the line is so long becausenit is so good. Nope, the line is long because the alternatives are worse. Same with MSC. Now that Carnival is going to be serving other nightly snacks at the pizza place I really hope they increase their staffing to cover both the pizza demands and other food options. On Radiance last month we never waited more than 5 minutes for a pizza. They were doing it right with about 5-6 people (total) working dough, toppings\cooking and serving stations. I don't know about the new Carnival ships but on the older ships, the pizza kitchen looks terribly small. I am having a hard time believing they will, in the same cooking area, be able to offer more food selections. I dunno, maybe they will just bring in trays from the buffet area. Who knows. captainmayi Posted August 8, 2022 #72 Share Posted August 8, 2022 I was just on the Carnival Spirit and the pizza line was always long. I wish they would of had pizza ready to go in a warmer, especially during lunch rush.
