I think you will be good. The Captain has been good at giving us a smooth cruise.

Oh yes, I'm actually not concerned about being at sea. Just hoping it doesn't rain the entire time when we're in ports. Just did another long-range weather check and forecasts have actually improved significantly in that department, so ... 🤞

Thanks for the info about customs in Portland. Does look like a bit of rigmarole, but will be nice to have it out of the way for disembarkation in Boston.

How were the room service Eggs Benny? They look good? Oh, which reminds me, have they offered Lobster Benny on the cruise at all? It's one of my favorites. 🤤

Hope you have a great final day in Portland. Weather should be wonderful.

You will enjoy.   summit staff are wonderful. Some that expected to go home tomorrow have been extended.

Agree Jim. I found the Summit staff exceptional on my 10 day cruise in June and hopping for more of the same next month on the 12 day. Glad to hear some have been extended!

While it may not have been apparent everyone is always required to go through immigration on first entry onto U S soil.   Even the astronauts are processed.

Sometimes it is as simple as flashing your passport.    I know it’s n FLL at terminal 25 they now use facial recognition and a camera processes you.

Customs is self reporting if you purchased over $300.

i remember Hawaii being schedules as a first stop Hilo which is tender!  They brought immigrations onboard but it was a quick punt to do that!

Ft Lauderdale I remember sitting in the terminal for over an hour for some glitch, and that Florida always requires going into the terminal

Now that I think about it we may have come straight back from Canada to Bayonne, although I thought we stopped in bar harbor before that.

Boston did require passports to board, not our final stop on the cruise, but it wasn’t clear that if you didn’t get off their was a check.  Hawaii clearly checks in Maui seemingly even if you’ve come from another island.  I expected agriculture on boarding but not immigrations on landing.

Have a great day in Portland!

So many fun restaurants and shops!

Check out Luke’s Lobster….overlooks the harbor…..right on the water!

Holy Donuts is very popular……donuts made from potatoes, just like my mother used to make.  The blueberry one is pretty good…..or the maple one!

"New crew" does not necessarily mean just hired and trained. While there could be some, there could also be crew returning from vacations and such.

Oh, I know - it's just that they may not be as familiar with the ship as the departing crew, so it could take them a few days to re-orient.

Not that I'd hate for anyone's long-awaited leave to be postponed, but there were several crew members on my Summit cruise that ended the beginning of July that were scheduled to leave right after your cruise ended.  Sort of hoping they'll still be around!  (My MDR server, Ida, my cabin steward Reynaldo, so I can say hi, and my great casino beverage server, Ashish, who made sure he had a cruise's worth of Mich Ultra at the casino bar for me).

As for customs in Portland, we're scheduled to arrive at 7 AM.  If customs inspection doesn't even begin until after 10AM, it seems like the entire morning in port is wasted.  Glad we don't leave until 8PM, but then again, makes for a longish port day when the cruise ends the next morning.  Guess these aren't third world problems though!  Just looking forward to cruising again.

Thanks Claudia.    All good things must come to and end.   The luggage tags arrived this morning.

The Eggs Benedict were perfect as well as the fresh squeezed OJ.   Made our day.   This is the first time we had Room Service on the entire vacation so was a special treat.

Last night (last formal night) was lobster night.   They have been sourcing Canadian Lobster (cold water)  it is delicious but no way near the fresh lobster lunch we had.

They try so hard and while it's sad to hear when they are extended at the last minute the remain very upbeat.   Last night a couple crew members gave me a big hug and said how much fun we have had over the past 3 cruises.   We are really going to miss them.

Our waiter Kutut has been a joy.   He has been teaching us a new Indonesian expression each night.   Last night I surprised him with a Salamat Malam (Good Evening).  He chuckled and said that Malam is good until 6 PM and then they say Selamat tidur (Good Night) after 6 -  he said Google Translate doesn't pick up the nuances.

I tried for What's for Desert the night before and google really messed it up and told me in Indonesian but had to many words for me to ever remember

It appeared it wasn't an easy process for all.   When Iain returned to the ship at noon- he said they were still processing passengers.

Our process was really easy and just flashed passports.... In and out in 30 seconds.

Had a wonderful day.  The weather is beautiful but almost on the hot side.   We walked downtown for awhile and then I decided to walk along Bayside Park out to the bridge and Iain decided to return to the ship and start the packing.

What a beautiful walk

What time were you scheduled to arrive?  I think it was 10 right. Hence your immigration starting then. We arrive at 7:00am.They aren’t going to wait for immigration until 10 do you think?

I would assume the immigration & customs officials can't get on the ship until the ship arrives at 10 AM.

I understand that. I want to make sure that the ship was scheduled to arrive that late. We get to Portland at 7am. I assume that customs will start soon after that and not wait until 10. Trying to clarify because of something kpark895 wrote.

Yes, I wasn't sure what time the Summit arrived in Portland today.  Hopefully immigration begins shortly after we dock at 7.  I really didn't recall Jim saying what time they arrived, so I thought perhaps it was the same time as we are scheduled to arrive.

We were scheduled at 10:00 and were in a little early.  Immigration wasn’t on board and setup until 10:30.

I would think your immigration would be available about 1/2 hour after scheduled arrival.
