Testing

There is no blanket yes or no. Where are you cruising from and to? What cruise line? For how long? Are you fully vaccinated?

Arrivecan is still required to enter Canada. Testing is not required to enter Canada by land or air, but testing to board a cruise leaving, arriving, or visiting a Canadian port is.

Anyone entering Canada must make an ArriveCAN submission prior to entry. If entering by cruise ship the ArriveCAN submission must be completed prior to boarding. See https://www.canada.ca/en/border-services-agency/services/arrivecan.html for most up-to-date information.

Passengers of cruises calling in Canada must provide a negative test prior to boarding. Check with https://travel.gc.ca/travel-covid/travel-restrictions/cruise for up-to-date information. This page includes more details on ArriveCAN and cruise ship travel.

Hi,

I just completed my ArriveCAN for entry (driving) into Canada.  Since I am staying in a hotel pre-cruise, the ArriveCAN website says I must complete a second entry for the cruise.

"You must also submit a second ArriveCAN submission no more than 72 hours before boarding the cruise. This applies even if your second ArriveCAN submission is within 72 hours of the first submission. "

Since ArriveCAN is already showing my first receipt, how do I enter a second one?

Are you saying that a Canadian departing Canada through the US and  sailing FROM the US doesn't have to provide a test now?  I'm booked to take a test in Nov.  Where is the confirmation the US doesn't require one from us?  I don't believe the airline requires a test from Canada to the US or am I wrong?  TIA for replies.

I believe you will need to complete the second ArriveCAN submission after entering Canada. As fast as I know only one submission can be active at a time.

It's actually not that big a deal as the app/web page retains vaccination and passport data so it can be easily incorporated into new submissions.

So....Carnival Cruise Line will allow non vaccinated Americans (as long as they have a neg test) to board but not Canadians who are FULLY VACCINATED....with 3 or 4 vaccines....ugh

Can you provide a link?

Cruises departing the US that do not port in Canada or Bermuda for the most part no longer require a pre-boarding test. Details vary by cruise line and I believe Royal Caribbean still requires tests for itineraries longer than 5 nights. Check with your cruise line.

Wut??  Your post makes no sense/is incomplete. Provide a link to the  Carnival testing and vaccination rules that you can't understand.

On the technical issue of entering a second one, once you have entered Canada and are finished with the first submission, when you sign into the app you should see  this page or one similar with the trash can. Click on it and you start entering new trip details.

Carnival's requirements vary with the date of the cruise, the itinerary of the cruise and the length of the cruise. However, I'm not aware of any requirement that is applicable to Canadians and not Americans as you state in your post. Maybe you are confusing the issue of passenger nationality with the issue of cruises embarking in Canada or destined to Canada.

For full details of Carnival's requirements, take a peek here:
