What’s a tradition you do after you board?

Lunch first.  Hang out in our room/nap until muster.  If we know where the trivia and group games are held we may go check that out.  Muster.  Hang out on our balcony and watch sail away.

I never thought of it as a tradition, but I guess it is since we do it every cruise.  lol

It sounds like you haven't cruised since there was a change to the muster drill.  It is no longer held just before boarding with a zillion passengers stuffed together on the decks dying of the heat.  You can do it yourself as soon as you board.  It's so much better than the old way.

Our tradition, which started on our first cruise and seems like a good pattern to repeat, is to head to Blue Iguana Bar on Lido, order a drink (each), get a Guy's Burger (each), order another drink (each), then head to room to drop off carry-on if cabins open.

Under new e-muster rules, we might tweak that to add e-Muster after dropping off bags, or if cabins not ready yet then do e-Muster after second drink, and go find another watering hole until cabins open up.

We might do e-Muster right away next time, even before the first drink (what's wrong with us?!), or maybe after grabbing a drink from the lobby bar, depending on where the muster station is relative to where we board.  Hmm, I should review that prior to boarding...

drop off luggage, decorate room (re use carnival ceiling magnets) - put up door banner - put up danglers outside by door (helps locate room) then muster,

Usually drinks at whatever bar has happy hour. First drinks include taking pics and sending to our friends that are not with us (to tease them of course).

Food at some point of course.

What's a door banner? Can I see?

Board ship, muster drill, go to Serenity deck if I've sailed the ship before, order a Mango Swirl and people watch.  If it is a new ship that I have never sailed before - Muster drill, then I walk all around the ship to sea what it is like and get my bearings of where everything is at, then order a drink.

We’re on our second Carnival cruise in December, and I realize my cruising partner and I need a tradition for after we dump our stuff off at our room. We were gonna make it Happy Hour at Red Frog, but Horizon doesn’t have Red Frog (which is ridiculous).

What’s the first thing you always do (aside from dropping stuff off at the room)?

Checkin from 12:00-12:30 and head straight to the Italian restaurant for a peaceful lunch.  We avoid the Lido Pool Zoo and the Gastric Nightmare that is the lido buffet at all costs on that first day.

After boarding, we first go to Muster to get it out of the way, then drop small carry on at our room, grab   lunch at Cucina del Capitano (glad it has reopened), then check out any changes in the smoke-free casino, and then watch the ship leave port.  We usually sail out of Galveston, so we don't need to explore the Dream or Breeze much because we have sailed on them often, so we simply enjoy being able to cruise again and experience the most-relaxing vacations ever.

Happy cruising y'all!

If we can avoid the pool area entirely on the first day, that would be perfect. Of course that may prevent me from getting the funfetti cheesecake.

Old tradition:

1. lunch, 2. unpack, 3. iron all clothes in an empty launderette😳, 4. muster drill,

New tradition: (just started Aug 2022)

1. muster station (soooo quick and efficient!), 2. lunch at Pig and Anchor, 3. check for life vest under the bed, 4. unpack wrinkled clothes and put ‘em right in the closets/drawers! I shall never again iron another stitch of clothing when we cruise! Never ever! 😂

Hello all. I’ve seen happy hour mentioned quite a bit lately. I’ve never seen it. We’ve been on 9 carnival cruises and apparently missed this. I buy buckets of beer only and my wife the occasional cocktail. Where would I find out where these happy hours are?

Thanks a lot for your help
