esriwebsp Posted September 3, 2022 #1 Share Posted September 3, 2022 Dear friends: The schedule arrival to Port Canaveral is at 7:00 am. Will I be able to make it at MCO airport at 9:00 am? The plane leaves at 10:10 am. Risky? What experimented cruises think about this? Thank you for your advise. Miguel
Rare styles27 Posted September 3, 2022 #2 Share Posted September 3, 2022 (edited) PC is about 30-40 min (depending on the day) some days could be an hour to MCO. We were off Divina by 8:15 ish got on our prearranged GoPort shuttle within about 15 min and were at the airport before 9:30 for our 11:30 flight. Personally I like to have a flight from noon on the earliest. I think 10:10 is pushing it. Edited September 3, 2022 by styles27
mushroom Posted September 3, 2022 #3 Share Posted September 3, 2022 You're probably not going to make it. You need to be at the airport by 8:10 for a 10:10 flight. If you are determined to try it, be sure you are first in line to walk off the ship. Have your driver waiting for you and know where to meet him/her. Be registered for TSA Precheck at MCO. Fly"Priority". Pray!

Why add this stress after a calming vacation? Our return in October was 12:30. Now, with schedule changes it is 4:45pm. As tempted as I was to change to the 10:30 am flight, decided it was not worth the stress. Also, Miguel….Welcome to Cruise Critic. Good luck. dexddd Posted September 4, 2022 #5 Share Posted September 4, 2022 We sailed last September when not many people it seemed traveling. Uber delayed and switched cars. That said, he drove 90 and we were at airport in 45 minutes. Actually got there too early for AA to take luggage for a stupid ten minutes. Then the TSA line with snaking line of people took about 30 minutes.
FireEater Posted September 4, 2022 #6 Share Posted September 4, 2022 I got off pretty early last month from the Divina. You might get off and to the airport in time. Its the checking in baggage and getting through Security at Orlando Airport that is your biggest enemy. Be prepared for long and slow lines. Good luck and let us know the results.
Tierun Posted September 4, 2022 #7 Share Posted September 4, 2022 As an airline employee I’ve seen people not familiar with MCO make 2 huge mistakes. First is getting in the wrong security line which can be over an hour only be sent to the other end and have to stand in line all over again. The other crucial mistake is after getting through TSA, getting on the wrong people mover (train) and going to the wrong set of gates. I’ve observed a number of people make these errors and miss their flights. 1
esriwebsp Posted September 4, 2022 Author #8 Share Posted September 4, 2022 Thank you very much for your answers. You are great!! Is clear to me that is very much better To take a later plane. Believe or not, when I booked my flight from MIA to MAD..... I didn´t relize I was arriving to Orlando and not to MIA. The retuning is going to be an interesting day anyway 😄 Once again thanks, and enjoy your incoming cruises. Miguel
mowogo Posted September 5, 2022 #9 Share Posted September 5, 2022 Having just gotten off the Divina this morning, self assist started at 7am in Canaveral (I waited until 8:30 to debark because my flight is departing at 9:30pm and I’m writing this from the airport), and you are talking a 45 minute drive to the airport if your transportation is leaving immediately and no issues on the way. Then if you are dealing with normal TSA screening, Orlando is the absolute worst due to the families and inexperienced travelers. While most airports I feel the 2-3 hours before guidance can be too much most of the time, Orlando I feel it is spot on if you don’t have pre-check and/or CLEAR. esriwebsp Posted September 5, 2022 Author #10 Share Posted September 5, 2022 Finally I changed my MCO-MIA to a later one and the MIA-MAD flight to one later in the evening. I´ll rather have a nice beer waiting at the airport rather than be watching the wach all the time, suffering and thinking if I will make it. Once again thankyou for your usefull information. Nice cruises.

I live in Orlando and this is 100% the case. Families LEAVING MCO with tired, cranky kids wearing oversized Disney hats and carrying bag after bag of souvenirs... oh my! It's not for the faint of heart.
Rare styles27 Posted September 5, 2022 #12 Share Posted September 5, 2022 Agree about MCO it’s my least favorite airport besides LAX @esriwebsp I’m happy to hear you were able to move your flights around. It’s better to be relaxed enjoying a beer than stressed about not making your flight.
