Booking casino deal and cancelling

My husband gets really good casino deals, I understand I can’t book without him coming under one of his deals. I’m wondering what happens if he doesn’t show up for the cruise can I go without him? Will they change the rate or deny me boarding?

They would have the right to charge you regular rates (including single supplement). Whether they catch on that he no-showed and if so whether they charge you more is another matter, but you're intentionally planning on him no-showing, you should prepare for that possibility.

Probably wouldn't deny you boarding unless they caught it before leaving the homeport and you refused to pay the additional charges.  But personally I'd be worried the whole cruise that they'd figure things out at some point and charge me the additional amount, to the point that I wouldn't even be able to enjoy the cruise.

I actually called about this exact scenario because there was a good possibility that my spouse would not be able to cruise due to business issues.  I was told if you cancel you lose whatever you paid, but if spouse was a no-show, they would refund any port charges and because it's a casino cruise they will not charge double fare.

Did you or spouse get the casino offer?

I got the offer but in re-reviewing the post I see it was her husband who got the offer.  In that case they may not let her sail because he isn't there.  Boo.

That's the difference. I get casino offers; when I go alone Carnival covers the single supplement.

If I book a casino offer with a roommate and I no-show but roommate still boards, that puts the roommate in OP's situation.

So - correct me if I am wrong - but is the original poster trying to pull some sort of intentional scam?

Well I mean it’s an honest question if you don’t know how Carnival’s rate codes work, particularly the casino rates.

All casino offers include a $100 or $200/pp non refundable charge that is rebated back on the cruise as OBC and port fees and taxes. If the person that the offer is given to cannot sail the proper thing is to cancel the cruise, which means the $200 or $400 will be forfeited but the port fees and taxes will be refunded.

Does Carnival always waive the single supplement on casino deals?  And if you don't mind me asking, what was the most recent time you cruised single on a casino deal?

Thanks.

Yes, single supplement has always been waived.  Last casino cruise was February. Going next month and September, October, and December 2023.

Not an intentional scam, I’d love for him to go but he wouldn’t know until last minute.

Then you just don't book that particular cruise until there's a cruise date you know he can go. It's as simple as that.

Not waived.  Nor do "All Offers" include anything.  IF you get an offer that includes the $100 pp deposit that is returned as OBC,  a solo pays $200 deposit and receives $200 OBC.  If two people are in a cabin, they also pay $200 deposit ($100 pp) with $200 OBC

Waived for comp cruise offers, including offers where the "fare" is a non-refundable deposit to be refunded onboard as OBC.  Whether two people pay $100 each or one person pays $200, the impact is the same in that it all comes back as OBC.

Happy now?

Still not waived.  You cancel you get zip.

The "free" cruises are, as noted, $200 whether 1 or 2 pax with $200 OBC.

My other discounted casino offers most definitely have a solo supplement.  Yes, it's a discounted fare but I do pay for 2 pax.  There are a variety of "casino deals" with different fare codes.  Some have OBC.  Some have casino cash.  Some have DOU.  Many varieties of casino offers out there.

That $200 for a solo (being the same as for two guests) is the "solo supplement".
