Labadee - First Time Back in 20 Years! Anything Different?

Hi all,

 

Travelling on Odyssey on November 13th with a port stop in Labadee. Haven't been there in probably 20 years or so. I recently went to Perfect Day and loved the fact that there was plenty of free things to do and that there were plenty of free lounge chairs, but it seems like everything at Labadee has an upcharge and can't find anything about free loungers.

 

Also, is there anything significantly different from the last time I was there? Really can't find too many discussions on Labadee.

 

Any help or advice is appreciated!

Search/read some more - they are there. Plenty of free stuff, including loungers, available there.

Well, there is the pier they opened in 2009.

The market place is totally revamped.  It now consists of a "retail" store with priced stickers on the stuff, and many wooden stalls off in the back for those who like to haggle. 

 

There are more cabanas

 

There are tons of free loungers 

 

First place I suggest you looking is a recent map of labadee, as well as some Labadee walk-through videos.

Better loungers and umbrellas available, rather than the old rusty ones and had to wait for a native to get them for you.

Buffet spread IMHO is not a as good as Coco Cay.  More varieties on CC rather than the standard hamburgers, chicken and hot dogs which is standard for Labadee.  Why the difference, I have no idea.

 

On recent stop on Allure, went back to the ship for lunch.

CocoCay has permanent food storage and preperation areas. Food is not just brought off the ship like at Labadee. Why the quality and variety of food at CocoCay is better.

I was in Labadee in 2008 and they had some new things in process.  The pier would be nice as we took tenders.  I had a fantastic time.  Maybe one day I'll return.

I did the zip line and snorkeling.  I loved the hammocks.

 

The swings look fun.

Been there many times. No more tendering, they have a dock.

 

Large local shopping area that wasn't there for the first few years and is sometimes a bit annoying with very aggressive shops.

Good food and drinks, Zip line, roller coaster, lots pf sand and water.

Great beach day. 

Probably new things that we haven't seen yet.

Still the best zip line in the Carabbean. I little pricy but worth every dime in my opionion.
