Easily the Spirit class but sadly they will be gone in a few years and we'll be left with only the overcrowded giganto ships.

The Spirit class wins anytime this is put up for vote, yet Carnival builds their new ships completely against why people love the Spirit class so much.

You know, your comment makes me think of how interesting it would be to see a Spirit class (or Spirit plus-ish) newbuild with the current fittings/venues. I doubt it would happen, but that would be pretty cool!

I would expect to see the Spirit class “Sunshined” before long. I just hope they don’t stack them full of extra staterooms and ruin the famed Spirit class space to passenger ratio in the process.

Bite your tongue!😬 🙊 Pu pu pu (I spit three times to ward off the evil eye of that suggestion).  If that happens, I am utterly done with Carnival.  I will close out my Carnival FunPoints MC account that I've had since 2005 and get the Royal Caribbean Visa card.  I will never sail Carnival again.  I've adjusted to and put up with the cutbacks over all these years.  But I will not tolerate the Sunshine-ization of Spirit Class or, for that matter, the abandonment of the port of Baltimore.  Either one of these actions on Carnival's part will drive me away forever.

Sorry to get so emotional there.  Just got triggered.😳😔

I as well would hate the abandonment of Baltimore

I didn't say a word about Baltimore...

It's obvious that the Spirit class are going to be renovated.

What remains to be seen is will Carnival rip out lounges and public space and stick in more staterooms during the renovation.

Let's hope not.

I know you didn't mention Baltimore, I didn't mean to imply that you did.  Baltimore was mentioned upthread and I was just trying to kill two "last straw for me" birds with one "don't say that!" stone.

Renovation is one thing.  All ships get renovated to some degree, in each drydock.  Sunshine-ification is entirely different from renovation.  A downgrade rather than an upgrade.  It would destroy most of what is so desirable in Spirit Class.

I think we are essentially in agreement on this.  I'm maybe just a bit emotionally invested in this particular point.🤭

My preference is the Conquest class and then Spirit class. We were on the Magic at capacity in April and it was so crowded everywhere. We are debating the Celebration in 2024 but that's still up in the air.

Agree, we just did the Magic and it was crowded and so many people complained about the stairs to nowhere LOL.  We've been on all 3 Dreams ships and are our least favorite.  It's good most lines have enough to choose from that suits us best! The more cruises we do the more I like the smaller ships.

Well if history is anything to go on, I think it’s pretty much a 100% chance that any “Sunshining” of the Spirit class will definitely add more cabins. Most likely trimming the main theaters from 3 decks to 2 and adding cabins on deck 4 forward. The good news is other than that, they don’t present many other opportunities to squeeze in cabins. They could add a deck forward like they did on Paradise and Elation, but even that area only provides enough room for maybe 15-20 cabins. They could add cabins on deck 9 above the bridge, and probably market them as Spa cabins due to their close proximity.

We are huge fans of the Spirit class ships! Have sailed once on the Pride and multiple times on the Spirit and Miracle. It is so easy to traverse the decks-not like the up, over down around the galley on the Splendor. The variety of cabins on the Spirit class ships is the winning point for us. Vista views- aka Aft Wraps- are our favorite, love the bowling alley balconies, and the French door inside cabins. Our next cruise is on the Miracle to Hawaii in January.

Carnival is doing something wrong with the excel class because a vast majority don't like it.

Compare that to rci where people prefer oasis class ships..this is an indictment on Carnival.

They need to build a better big ship..

I haven't experienced the Oasis class with RCCL, but from my experience all the lines seem to have challenges figuring out how to accommodate the larger passenger count on these larger vessels. Some amenities seem to never be of appropriate size (or even shrink) for the amount of people onboard. Namely pools, buffets, theatres and comedy clubs. Nobody likes the crowds, long lines or even having to miss out completely because of this trend.

Those would be very expensive upgrades for relatively little gain. If Carnival were going to do that, the time would have been 5-6 years ago.

The lifeboat capacity also limits any gains from adding cabins - unless if you can add lifeboats, you can't increase the total capacity.

I have sailed all except Spirit and Excel class. Excel will be in January. I need to try Spirit!

With that said, all have their pros and cons. I liked Dream class. Bigger and more stuff to do, old style atrium and nightclub, casino bar, sports bar, not too crowded, just a good layout.
