Charging Table Play Chips in the Casino

We are Platinum but haven't sailed on Princess since 2015. We will be back on the Regal next month. I have searched this forum for information and have seen various viewpoints, but I am still fuzzy about this:

 

Can I charge casino chips, for table play, to my account (with my medallion?) without incurring a service charge? And without starting off on a slot machine?

 

I have seen answers that seem to suggest that I should begin by setting myself up on a slot machine, fund my account, play a little and then cash out and use those funds at a table. This seems unnecessarily complicated. I would like to simply start off at a table and get chips without paying a fee. Is this possible? This is how it works for me on Celebrity with the fee waived because of my Blue Chip Club status (Celebrity's Players Club).

 

I would prefer not to bring cash, but will if I have to in order to avoid paying a service charge.

Yes you can charge it to your onboard account. Haven’t sailed since medallions came to be but I’m sure you can still do it. And there is no fee or charge for doing so.

You can charge chips to your stateroom account. No fees

It works just like asking for a marker in a land-casino.  You can ask at the table, there is need to visit the cage.

Just hand your medallion over at the table and ask for what you want.

Yes. Just like others have said. Place your medallion on the table and ask for the amount of chips you wish to charge to your account. The pit boss will place the charge on your account and the dealer will hand you the chips. There is no service charge. $100 charge gets you $100 in cash value chips.

Can I use my prepaid gift cards for the casino?
