Mardi Gras balcony upgrade

DH and I are going to be on a cruise on the Mardi Gras in March with friends of ours. Right now we have connecting rooms on deck 10 port side midship. We both got upgrade messages to move to a higher balcony. The only connecting rooms I can find are Deck 14 starboard midship. Are there any pro/cons anyone can think of? We were on the Mardi Gras last year, but had a cove balcony. Everyone has agreed either would be fine, but I feel like I’m missing something. So hive mind-send help! I think I remember something about being able to see down into balconies. We’d be right behind the hump either situation.

What cabins are you actually looking at?

how was having a cove balcony?  that's what we have over Christmas.  first time on MG.

I loved it! I loved the ship too. I’d have done it again, but we wanted connecting rooms and couldn’t find any available. Being right near the water like that was really cool.

We were in cabin #14363 last week, not far from some cabins the OP cited.  We had an extended balcony that easily fit the 2 regular balcony chairs plus table along with a larger chair recliner and still had space left over.

One can easily look down and see other decks and pools, as well as have a much larger vista to ocean view than from a cove.  If OP can get adjoining extended balconies, they can have a large party when the divider is opened.

The OP should check the deck plan for deck 14 and see if their cabins have the (much) larger balcony.

This is basically where we would be. No extended balconies sadly.

Oh well.  Since I prefer a higher deck, I would take the upgrade anyway.  But the Op has to make their choice, why not take the upgrade and then compare it to their previous cove experience to decide which cabin suits them better?

Can I ask why you prefer a higher deck? I originally was trying to find something kinda of in the middle. The pros and cons that I can come up with aren't really helping any of us choose.

Do you plan to spend most of your time indoors or out?  If indoors at the bars, restaurants, casino, comedy shows, deck 10 is an easy walk down the stairs.  If you plan on spending more time on the Lido deck, deck 14 is better.  I would stay on 10.

I think some of this depends on where you plan to spend the majority of your time. Casinos, restaurants, bars.. I wouldn’t upgrade. But pools, waterworks, lido etc I’d move to 14. We have a suite booked on 14 and we picked it for location and closeness to the pool/water works for our kids.

with connecting cabins your balcony divider cant be opened since it blocks a cabin door.    maye two regular cabins and get the balcony divider opened instead of a connecting room

Oh I wish I had known that sooner!

Was it in the app or an email?

For me, it showed up in my "To-Do" for my upcoming cruise as well as in the "Booking and Order Details" page next to the pre-pay gratuities button.

I got an email about it, and it's also when I log in to my cruise under Booking & Order Details as well as the Planner section.
