mauraoel Posted November 19, 2022 #1 Share Posted November 19, 2022 Mu DH is making me a special jewelry box for travel and wants to make sure that it will fit in the safe. Does anyone know the size of the opening? Just a couple weeks ago we were on allure and the safe was in a cabinet that wouldn't allow the safe to fully open but my current box fit in it so I have a width to be able to estimate but height is a pure guess at 6 to 8 inches anyone have something better? firefly333 Posted November 19, 2022 #2 Share Posted November 19, 2022 I've seen 2 sizes even on the same ship. There was a older style and in one cabin it had been replaced with a newer smaller one.
poocher Posted November 19, 2022 #3 Share Posted November 19, 2022 (edited) On Explorer earlier this month, the safe was much smaller than I expected it has seen on other ships. I would guess a MAX of 5-6 inches high Edited November 19, 2022 by poocher

Aggravation Posted November 19, 2022 #5 Share Posted November 19, 2022 May be bigger than you expect if warning label is plausible 1
Rare orville99 Posted November 19, 2022 #6 Share Posted November 19, 2022 Depends on the ship and the category of the cabin. Suites typically have larger safes, and interior safes are generally tiny.
Rare brillohead Posted November 20, 2022 #7 Share Posted November 20, 2022 I used a unit of measurement we can all relate to: The opening of my safe is four SeaPass "short-sides" wide. I couldn't get the cards to stay in place to get the height of the opening in a photo, but if I held two cards on top of each other (short-sides again), there was an additional quarter of an inch of space at the top. Hope that makes sense. I'm sure someone with a ruler handy will be by to give actual numbers before too long. 1

Don't like having to untangle necklaces minutes before dinner, besides he's a wood worker and is intrigued to make something that will become a family heirloom.
