When you said, “On our cruise last week, we bought a $250 CN and I told the salesperson I didn't want $100 OBC for the current cruise.”

You started your post by saying you were only buying one.

That doesn't mean we didn't want two if the price was right. I think I know what I wanted and what I was thinking more than you do. Like I said, case closed. Unless you want to keep beating this dead horse. In which case, you can argue with yourself. Knock yourself out. I'm done with it.

Possibly dumb question, but can you apply more than one voucher per cruise per person?   If I buy $1000 worth of vouchers, can my hubby and I apply that to deposits for one cruise?   Or would it have to be 2 cruises?   Or is it 1 voucher per stateroom so that would be 4 cruises?

You are allowed a maximum of two 'vouchers' or discounts per cabin.  I had two CND's and could only use one if I also wanted to apply a 10% discount code that was also on my account.  CND's and discounts are applied per cabin, not per passenger.

CND's aren't considered discounts.  I've got multiple cruises where I've used 2 CNDs with 10% discounts. But you can't always use 2 certificates, only when they run a "double up" promo which lately has required booking 6 months in advance.

Sorry, one more question...  If we have CNDs, do we need to book THROUGH NCL?  We usually book through our points plan to redeem points for travel.

I didn't say they were.

Using more than two discounts or vouchers must require a manual override then.  When I was booking my next cruise (did it myself online) it only let me apply two items from my available 'credits', either two CND's or one CND and the 10% discount.  Once two items were applied the rest were unavailable to select.

How does it?  I go on long cruises, get $250 OBC, use that for cruise next.  If it costs me any money, I have never paid..............

Your shareholder benefit is $250.  You spent it on Cruise Next.  You could have pocketed the benefit but  you didn't.  Therefore your cost was $250.

The shareholder benefit is NR, how can I pocket it?

I'm pretty sure everybody is on the same page here.  To @RocketMan275's point, using the NR OBC to purchase CruiseNext certs would make it not available to cover other common expenditures such as taxes paid on drinks while in port, Shorex booked while on board, etc.  I'm getting $100 shareholder OBC on my next cruise (first time I've taken advantage of this) and that will likely be consumed by other on-board expenditures, so when I pay $250 for CruiseNext certs, my net cost will still be $250.

I never buy drinks, do onboard shopping and we DIY shoreside.  If I could use it on daily service charge I would, but it can't be used that way.  To me it is free money to get a $250-$500 credit for my next cruise.  Everyone should do what makes them happy.

I also rarely, if ever, have any on-board charges.  I just bought 100 NCL shares so I'll start getting the shareholder OBC but it was really going to take me some work to spend it.  Thanks to @Level six, I now know a perfect way to spend it.  I'll just have $100 OBC on my cruise in April, but I can use it against the price of the CN certs, so I'll end up with $500 of credit costing my $150.

Yes, like I said, I think we're all on the same page. 😎

Still, you could have spent the benefit on other things so it is not free money.  There are opportunity costs.

Everytime someone convinces  you that something is free, they have their hand in your pocket.

Then it is not for you. For me it works great.

So when was the last time you were able to use SH credit for CN?  Thought they stopped allowing that?

I was confused as well, as this line is in the CND T&C on the website -

Only refundable Onboard Credits and the Non-Refundable Onboard Credit given for purchasing CruiseNext deposits may be used towards your CruiseNext purchase.

Here's the link if people don't believe me -

We have not been allowed to use our SH credit for CN on any cruise we took this year.  Also cannot use it  to leave additional tips.  It is getting difficult to spend it.

Definitely pre covid.  That's a bummer if they don't allow it now.  Can it be used in the casino?

What can you use it for then?  Just drinks and excursions?

You can use it for drinks if you don't have the package, taxes charged on the drink package while in port, items in the shops, excursions, wine tasting events.  I think you can use it to pay for a meal in a specialty restaurant.  But when we used our FAS and Platinum meals, we were no longer allowed to use it to add a tip to the zero balance check as we had in the past.  The tips we added were part of our balance due at the end of the cruise.  You  just have to plan ahead to be sure you use it.  I think we may upgrade our internet package next cruise.
