Help me understand making dinner reservations for Anytime on Beyond

I am so confused by the reports on Beyond not having dining times, (despite being asked in the booking), but also needing to make nightly reservation times for dinners in the MDRs. Is this correct? That is my understanding from these boards.

So, i finally found the section to do so on the website, and when i try and select Dh and I to reserve a time, they are grayed out and say ‘dining time already selected’ or something like that, so I can’t reserve it. I was able to reserve Specialty. Help?

It sounds like you were originally booked in traditional dining and the computer system has not be updated to Select dining, which would allow you to make reservations.

if you booked with a TA then contact the, and ask that they change your dining to Select which should allow you to make reservations.  If you booked direct with Celebrity then call them to have the change  made.

There was a post yesterday from someone with the same situation as you except there cruise was just days away.

They posted that they couldn’t make reservations and were afraid they would not get seated.  They went to the dining rooms  just about 6pm and all had long lines.  The lines moved quickly as they were seating everyone with no wait for a table, it was just a matter of having people to escort them to the table. They were seated and done with dinner by 7:20.

Bottom line is the whole ship is anytime dining. 40% of the available tables at any given hour is available for pre-boarding advanced reservations. The remaining are allocated to walk-ups/no prior reservations. If you try to make advanced reservations and your preferred times are not available, that means all of the 40% has been taken, and you'll have to rely on walk-up. Even when we were given a buzzer it was only a 10-15 mins wait, and that was when the ship had just started with this procedure. By the middle of our 9 night cruise there was never a wait when we walked up.

We also had set dining reservations, but found that the Beyond has done away with them. Too bad that the it department hasn’t learned of that yet! Of the nine nights on her we never had a wait of more than a few minutes and had the same waitstaff each night. Busiest times were shortly after 7 and right after the early show ended!

Just want to verify that if we made reservations for Select Dining (6 months ago) for all 5 nights on our January 3 Beyond sailing, they are still valid. For our January 8 back to back sailing, we're in AQ and plan on showing up between 6:15 and 6:30 and optimisically hope we won't have long wait times.

Assuming the reservations are still in your planner, there's no reason to believe they wouldn't be valid.

Same wait staff? Does that mean you dined in the same dining room every night? i think i will like the change of scenery of the 4 MDRs (unless I am misunderstanding how that works.)  Great to hear that the waits are not bad even without reservations.

We were on the 11/13 sailing of the Beyond with traditional dining at 8:30. Being a follower of these boards I knew that there was no longer traditional dining on the Beyond. Because of our reservation being traditional dining we were unable to make any reservations. Calling Celebrity was no help since they insisted that we had an 8:30 dining time at a table for six. Once we were on board there were no reservations available. The first night we were given a beeper and had to wait 30 minutes. The second night it was pretty much the same. Once seated it was pretty chaotic. There was no continuity with the wait staff. Different waiters were came at different times of the meal. The following day I was able to speak to a senior dining staff person and he gave us a reservation for the rest of the cruise. Everything was a lot better after that. Hopefully the Beyond will be able to sort some of these problems out as time goes by
