Getting a "good" obstructed view cabin

I am almost ready to pay the deposit on one of the 2024 Pride Greenland cruises. Currently, I have a 4k interior obstructed view cabin on hold. Obviously, I'd prefer a balcony on this type of sailing, but it's already expensive enough so I figured I would try one of these for the first time. When selecting a cabin,  is the best strategy to try and pick one as close to being between lifeboats as possible? Wanting to make sure I made a good choice before I lock myself in.

Whenever brother and SIL have had an obstructed view balcony, they go for one that is on either end of the lifeboats.  They say it is a little more open on the ends and they still get somewhat of a full view on one side if that makes sense.  Not sure is you meant obstructed view balcony and not inside but congrats if you get one.

Carnival will list some of the obstructed view cabins as interiors and prices them accordingly.  We have one of the front view deck 7 cabins for our B2B on the Horizon.  We have that "secret deck" in front of us that is accessible. The casino price was too good to pass up.  I hope being up front under the bridge will be okay!!

How does an interior cabin have any view??

4K is a special "interior" category.  These rooms used to have french doors, but now just have floor-to-ceiling windows.  They are considered to be "interior" (I assume) because the view is so obstructed as to make it unusable.  These are only on a few ships (Pride and Miracle at least).

Ahhh!  Thanks for clarifying

All of the spirit class ships (Spirit, Pride, Miracle & Legend) have 4K Interior cabins.  These rooms are all located on deck four.  Most of them have views almost completely blocked by the lifeboats, but you still get some daylight.  Some of them do have a little better view than most.

We were in 4194 on the Pride on the October 11th sailing.

Something to keep in mind about this room. I like to wake up with the sun shining in the window.  On room 4194 they have a light that stays on all night just outside the window to illuminate the catwalk, so leaving the curtains open at night really wasn't an option.

It's not a great view, but considering it's usually priced about the same as a normal interior room, it's still a pretty good deal.

Also, unlike most classes of ships, where the rooms are larger with each step up in category, the rooms on the Spirit class, are pretty much the same until you get into a deluxe room, JS, or above.   The standard interior, 4K obstructed view interior, ocean view, balcony or extended balcony, are about the same size (185 square feet inside the room), and they have the same amenities.

These cabins are my new favorite.

I was in 4141 and the view was great but 4101 was totally blocked.  Both were on Pride.

Look for the little slivers between the lifeboats on the deck plans.  The bigger the sliver, the better the view!

Interesting view to say the least, not so sure I would want to keep the curtains open truthfully.  Wasn't aware of these cabins only the obstructed balcony ones that relatives have booked in the past.

The obstructed view balcony cabins are on deck five, directly above the 4K interior rooms with obstructed views.  Those views are obstructed when looking straight down, because you are looking at the tops of the same lifeboats that are blocking the views of the 4K rooms.  If you are looking for an obstructed balcony, look for one over a regular lifeboat, where the top is about even with the top of the balcony, and not the tender boats that stick up a couple feet above that.

Perfect! My cabin appears to have a similar view as 4141.

The walls make the view obstructed.

A quick search shows ships with interiors that have windows. No idea why they are called interior

Some cabins with windows are listed and priced as interiors - e.g.  porthole cabins,  cabins with windows facing a forward deck with no ocean view. We have stayed in the former many times and the latter once. Both options provide economical options while still providing the natural light that most interiors lack.
