Wondering how to find out if ship is sold out for our cruise

I just go on-line and do a mock booking to see how many rooms are left. Not sure that you can confirm that a ship is sold out, since some rooms may be held by travel agents.

Very unlikely for anything more than a month out, even if nothing is shown online.

Biker, who is waiting for someone to chime in with the exception.

Yea, we've often wondered this too and how to find out how full a ship might be [even while cruising].The mock booking thing is iffy we think, because many TA's buy up 'blocks' of cabins and probably release them or sell them back if not filling up as departure date nears [not sure how it's done, but assume this].  So, a mock booking might show 'full' [nothing available] at a given moment, but [ if these 'blocks' released, cabins open up. Again, we just assume this; don't really know it [anyone who knows might post a better explanation].

The ONLY time we've learned anything 'official' about how full a ship is, we went to the Crown and Anchor concierge who gave us exact numbers [including numbers of diamonds, D+, and pinnacles].   But that was during the cruise.  before a cruise, we do the mock booking to get a rough idea anyway.  But we're still looking for where might one find any official info on this before a cruise.  Might influence a royal up bid for example.

Royal recalls group space from TA's at 180 and 120 days to sailing so after 120 days TA's have no group space.  Also group space is limited to a very few categories and none of which are triple / quad occupancy cabins or suites so it is extrememy unlikely that a ship would show as sold out due to TA's holding group space

This seems right.  I can't recall seeeing a mock booking from a TA site not match the line direct.  And it would make no sense to not take bookings from all sources last minute for unsold blocks of cabins.  Our TA did say we got a $50 onboard credit for buying one of their block of cabins 45 or so days out- a GTY OV - connecting, 2 berths.

At 45 days out they could move you into their group to get the OBC but they don't actually have the space or the group rate any longer.  There were some sailings during start up where Royal let TA's keep their group rates until 30 days prior to sailing however those days are long gone.  As I mentioned Royal pulls back all unsold group space at 120 days so that they don't get stuck with TA's not being able to sell it.

Does being exceptional count?  😇

Sorry @Biker19, it was a big slow softball that you pitched, and I could not resist (swung three times before it even got over the plate like one of the old cartoons).
