Mum2Mercury Posted December 11, 2022 #1 Share Posted December 11, 2022 Just an observation: Beer rings up for a dollar more on the island. Yes, same brand, same size ... was a can on the island, bottle on the ship.

Magicat Posted December 12, 2022 #4 Share Posted December 12, 2022 You have reminded me of something. Several years back DW and I noticed that beer prices were different around the ship. We found the cheapest beer at Johnny Rocket. Not sure if this is still the case, however, on our next cruise we will investigate if this is still the case. Playmakers: On my last cruise on the Independence a couple months ago, the only place, I found, that served a picture of draft beer was in Playmakers. I drank a few of those per seating while my wife was in the casino. I love draft and my wife loves slots, win win. I did the math and the picture of beer came out to the equivalent of getting one beer for free and none of the servers bothered me as long as I had beer in the picture. Well, one guy came by a few times to see if I wanted something off the menu. After about the third time, I told him that when I was ready for something off the menu, I'd get his attention, nicely of course.

Yes, we found that true years ago -- and now that we're "back to cruising", we've been on two cruises in four months and haven't checked on this. I'd like to know the answer! 22 minutes ago, shellunderwater said: Pitcher. Pictures don't taste as good. I was genuinely confused for a moment and wondered why Ret MP was paying for photographs. I won't swear it was exactly a dollar, but it was close.
Merion_Mom Posted December 12, 2022 #11 Share Posted December 12, 2022 Yes, it's the VAT. I don't know about your cruise, but on ours, this is printed in the Cruise Compass that day.
SnorkelBoy Posted December 14, 2022 #12 Share Posted December 14, 2022 I think the moral to this story is buy a pitcher of beer on board, pour it into a rum runner and sneak it onto the island to avoid the VAT.

No need to sneak it -- buy a couple beers on the ship and carry them off.

If you are drinking several pitchers of beer at one sitting it's no wonder you don't remember. 😆
mattg43 Posted December 15, 2022 #16 Share Posted December 15, 2022 I assume the VAT tax is not covered by the drink package, but added to the seapass account?
