Bid for a Stateroom Upgrade...

Have a few questions for those who has successfully done Princess' Bid for a Stateroom Upgrade offer.

Just saw online that we're able to do a bid to go from oceanview to balcony for a very low reasonable price at low end to same as regular price on the high end for our Feb 2023 cruise.

Currently there's plenty of balconies avail for our sailing.

Question is chances are good if we bid the lowest offering price?

Also, there's 12 of us currently booked, with all 6 cabins in a row on good Deck 8.  So is there a way to do bidding for all 6 bookings at the same, to ensure all or none gets upgraded or not, & also to ensure we're all staying together nearby.  Or is it too risky that we'll all be scattered all over the ship, like being a "Guaranteed" booking & be on different decks & different parts of the ship?

Thanks,

If there are balconies available, yes, the chances are decent they will accept a bid ... the only question is, will they accept a low bid?  Well, that all depends on how much others have bid.

Your chances for getting all 6 bids accepted and in a row are slim to none, though.  Once you've bid, you will have no choice but to move to the cabin that has been assigned to you.  If it's important to all be in a block of rooms, you are better off not bidding for an upgrade.  It will be like a booking a guaranteed cabin.

I have had a few successful bids since the program started.  In each case there was a number of open cabins in the category I was bidding so I bid the minimum or just slightly over and was successful.

There is no way for all six of you to connect your bids. Each must be done independently and even if you all bid the same amount at the same time there is no guarantee you will all get the upgrade and it’s unlikely that the new cabins would be side by side. If being side by side ( or even on the same deck) is important you may want to pass on bidding this time.

This is literally addressed in Princess' FAQs for upgrades:

What happens if I’m part of a group or traveling with another reservation?
Each bid is considered individually. That means we can’t guarantee that all (or any) reservations traveling together will be upgraded. And even if all reservations are upgraded, we can’t promise that all the upgraded staterooms will be close together.

We put in an upgrade bid for our 12/26 sailing, haven’t received a rejection or acceptance email. Watching & wondering,

we are currently onboard Enchanted. Up until the day before we left our bid status for Club Class mini-suite continued to show, "pending" - ultimately we were never notified but were also not upgraded. Wasn't quite sure it was worth the $165pp so not at all disappointed. Good luck to you!
