It was buffet starter and desert but order main for dinner when we did it. Symphony was fully buffet.

Just got off Harmony last week.  Ate there for lunch and it was really good.  Best lunch of the week perhaps.

That’s funny because, on our first cruise in 2002, that’s how WJ was at dinner.  Buffet for appetizers and dessert and a served meal.  We ate there every night.

Thanks for all the input.  I’m thinking to pick the least appealing MDR night & reserve Bistro instead.  We are still mulling the 3 night dining package too.

In the 6-8 months after the restart in 2021, if the Bistro was open at all in the evening it was all buffet. They didn't switch back to the main course menu until mid-spring 2022.

Nor was it open on the Ovation in May 2022.  I guess it's one of those venues that gets sacrificed first when things get tough.

We had a long conversation with both the executive chef (old friend) and the restaurant services manager on Harmony on our end of February 2022 cruise, and their explanation was that they were unable to re-open the venue until two things happened: 1) an increase in the passenger counts sufficient to warrant opening the venue without a massive amount of food waste, and 2) the return of sufficient trained restaurant staff to be able to manage the prep and delivery of the food on the menu that met customer expectations. The venue was fully open by the time we cruised on Harmony in April 2022, and has been fully open on every one of our Harmony cruises since then.

I'll admit that I skimmed some of the posts, but, wanted to clarify that on Allure, the dinner at Samba Grill Brazilian style restaurant, held in the Solarium Bistro space, is NOT complimentary. 

 

On Harmony, the dinner at Solarium Bistro Mediterranean style is complimentary.  The buffet component of the meal is much scaled back from the daytime version and features a salad bar, hot Mediterranean appetizers and a dessert bar.

 

Breakfast and lunch are mini Windjammers with an emphasis on healthy options and are both complimentary.

 

Have a great cruise on Harmony!  Love that ship.

We just got off Harmony. Ate one evening in Bistro. We were not impressed. Buffet for apps, salads & desserts. Waited forever (almost an hour) for entree & then it was cold.

Symphony Bistro offerings

ALL items were self serve, no mains cooked to order.

Part of the exercise of cost savings I assume, but I never assume so I am guessing instead 😉

 

We thought Symphony Bistro was a far better location than any of the other Oasis class ships 

Nice and open with Hooked up above in a mezzanine area.

Chefs table also in Bistro

Looks like Chef's table offerings. Definitely not the Harmony Bistro mains or sides that we experienced three weeks ago (or on any of our 10 Harmony sailings since April) - except for the baklava...

We usually end up eating at the Solarium Bistro most nights...if only because my wife LOVES the watermelon/feta/balsamic appetizer.

 

@PompeySailor agree with your thoughts on Symphony...the openness of SB there makes it so much nicer.

Symphony has light wood tables 

 

The photos don’t lie 

 

Look again and see two completely different Bistro styles, two different ships 

and Definitely NOT chefs table food 💯 

 

And I know OP asked about Harmony 

Symphony are trialing new menus and setups 

I showed comparison of the two

Isn't it funny then that none of those items are on the Bistro menu for the current Harmony cruise - it lists exactly the same items that were on every Bistro menu on every Harmony cruise that we have sailed on in 2022.

Everyone of those items was on the menu for Symphony and Harmony

 

maybe you just didn’t look, or 3 weeks ago the universe was a much different place

 

Just admit your wrong and we can move along.
