Casino Table Minimums

On the Paradise two weeks ago, they still had $5 min on Craps, with 2x odds. It was lots of action with fun people. They have bonus craps and I rolled the all smalls, but I don't bet those. Made some money for several people!  BJ was $6 at 6:5, or $25 at 3:2.

Yup.  The only good thing about that is you can't lose money too fast.  You can play a 3 point molly all night on a small stake.  Of course you won't win much either....

Agreed, true, but that's slow grind and we all know who the slow grind benefits.....

Yup.  My craps philosophy on 2x ship tables is to play only if it's a fast moving, fun table, and even then only for a short period.  I don't mind riding the fence and breaking even for a while if it's a fun table with lots of action.

I haven't played in a while, so I might buy in a for a hundred or so to refresh my memory on my next cruise, but I won't be there for a long time

Play a 3 point molly (pass/odds/come/odds/come/odds) and you can play half the night on $100 unless you get a really bad break.  Stay away from the center of the table.  Dealers will try to talk you into hard ways and horn bets.  Don't let them.  Remember, there's a reason they want you to play them.

Hardways 6/8 is good with me. I take all the hardways usually. Not a bad bet IMO it's all about odds and if you're feeling the roller, horn bets aren't bad either. They say the dice have no memory but we've all watched folks hit numbers in a pattern that makes sense to bet on. I have at nearly every table I've been on, hot tables anyway. On a ice table, sure it's no bueno as a general rule.

That's the kind of talk casinos love!

This is the way.

Don't play the pass line, especially at 2x odds. Place the 6 and 8 for $30 each. When one of them hits, drop your bets to $12 each. At this point you've made an $11 profit on the roll and you can start expanding if the numbers hit again. The combination of 6 and 8 have a 10/36 chance of hitting while 7 has a 6/36 chance of rolling. There certainly is a level of risk until that first number hits, and it takes some time to come back from a $60 loss, but hopefully statistics will balance out in the end. If it's a $5 table and you want to be more conservative, start with $18 bets and drop to $6 when a 6 or 8 hits.

The three point molly still has a better return over a longer stretch of play.  Don't take my word for it, though.  Run a simulation.  Sure, with your method if you hit on the first roll you're taking the $36 profit on the place bet plus removing $18 from each bet (which actually makes you $12 up (not 11) with $24 in play).  But one in every six times you start anew, you'll seven out and lose the whole 60.

The odds are still the only bet that pays true with no house edge (0%), even if they're only 2x.  Pass line with 2x odds has a house edge of 0.6%, while 6/8 place bets give the house 1.52%.  Math doesn't lie, those place bets WILL lose 2.5x as much money.  Guaranteed.

Now you may have more fun with your place bets, but there's no way to mathematically calculate that.

Recently went on Carnival Conquest, March of 2024. I had lots of issues finding the odds and table minimums over the internet, seems like people only care about slot machines....worst place to put any money in any casino lol

Craps was $10 minimum, double odds only, field was 2x on 2/12. They have one table and seems like all the dealers are new. I had to correct the dealers multiple times on payouts and where to put bets.

No Baccrat.

Blackjack tables are all continuously shuffling now....no shoes...

$10 minimum for 6/5 Blackjack

$25 minimum for 3/2 Blackjack

Again....all continuously shuffling. You ask if they have any tables with Shoes and they look down at your feet.

I'm on the Horizon next month - what are the minimum roulette bets? I'm not much of a gambler but like to have a quick flutter every day.

My DDs and I played roulette on Freedom (Jan 2024) and Elation (Nov 2023) and the minimum was $10.

We were on the Jubilee in February and the minimum I recall was $10. They had some Black Jack tables for $5, but all were shuffle machines. They had one table that was a shoe (No machine/Hand Shuffle), but those crazies wanted $100 minimum a hand. Most of the time it was empty. Every now and then they had a lady on it, but that was it. Craps always had at least 3 or 4 people on it.

Do they offer craps lessons? I haven't a clue what mollies, hard ways and horn bets are!!!

We have friends in our neighborhood that have a craps table and blackjack table.  Every so often they will have parties and you can play "for fun", no money involved.  The husbands that run it are very good at explaining how to play.  By the time I get on a cruise, I've forgotten it. That's why I stick with roulette.🤣

They used to offer lessons on the first day of the cruise but I haven't seen it in years. Learn before you cruise! You can play for free online at stake.us in most states.

I just got off the Pride this past weekend.  Blackjack was $10 min on 6/5 and $25 min on 3/2.  All tables were continuous shufflers.  They also raised the minimum on the Lucky Lady side bet from $1 to a new $5/$10 option with a jackpot (not that I play that crap anyways, such a sucker bet).

When I cruised last year on the Pride, in March, it was still $5 blackjack minimums.

Also, what the hell is up with the epidemic of people staying on a hard 16 against a dealer showing 10?  Also had numerous comments, from players, on whether to hit or not depending on what happened the hand before, using a continuous shuffler or what happened to the guys hand to the right of him.  And one guy quoting that "the card" said to hit/not hit on a certain hand, and being totally wrong.  I had to leave the tables a few times because no one was playing anything close to the basic strategy, and was making by blood pressure rise.

Still ended up $100 in the black by the end of the trip, so consider that a win for hours of entertainment with a few extra bucks in my pocket.

I have the same observation on the Vista. Staying on 15 and 16 with dealer 10 showing. A couple of these guys were playing $50 and $100 a hand. I couldn’t take it and walked away.
