There are dozens of threads here on Ft Lauderdale hotels. You will notice the focus on the 17th Street area, which meets your needs.

A little reading around the board would also reveal then common recommendation for www.sunny.org, a listing of all hotels in Ft Lauderdale and their amenities.

Dates Feb 10-11.  Just one night.  Budget $300 range.

Have you checked the Hyatt Place Convention Center offered through ValueTrips.com?  Both the hotel and the booking agent are frequently recommended here.

Riverside Hotel on Las Olas Blvd is a wonderful hotel near plenty of great restaurants including Louie Bossi's, Rocco's Tacos, Big City Grill and American Social. Literally a fifteen minute ride to Port Everglades.

That's pretty much peak season and 17th St hotels are at their most expensive. We booked the Renaissance on 17th months ago at $336, and it's currently, for the same date (Feb 10-11) is $592. The Hyatt Place, if booked through Valuetrips, is a good bet. An alternative to 17th St could be Dania Beach, just south of the airport where the I95 crosses the 848/Stirling Road. MUCH cheaper than 17th St, lots of shopping and restaurants and not too far from the airport and Port Everglades.  Farther north, as mentioned above, Las Olas, pretty much downtown Fort Lauderdale with lots going on,  is a good bet as well though for one night pre-cruise, we prefer to be as close to PE as possible. The Renaissance we stay at is literally walking distance to Terminal 2 at PE, love waking up on cruise morning and staring at a huge flotilla of cruise ships moored at the various piers ;o)
