Sorry but not on the prices of alcoholic drinks or drinks package I think that comment you have made especially with regards to Cunard is very much tongue in cheek. Having cruised with Cunard for 25 yrs never seen anyone in that condition.

On all my transatlantic voyages on QM2 there's usually one man and his dog in there after 11.00pm. Not sure about Cunard drinks package but isn't it often given free to Americans but other nationalities have to pay and its priced high? Gets a few in. Cunard is not a drinking ship in the same way that Royal or NCL or Carnival might be. Can be good value for money though

No doubt if this is true, and personally I think we would have heard about it over on Cunard forum if it was so very much doubt it myself, they would have been dealt with by Cunard very swiftly.
Rare Selbourne Posted January 10, 2023 #105 Share Posted January 10, 2023 Whilst it might not be the most PC thing to say (but, hey) isn’t it as a simple as different P&O ships, with different pricing structures, attract very different passenger profiles? It surely can’t be to do with drinks packages and Brits. If it was, then the most riotous cruise line would be Saga 😂 5

I am sure somebody would have either reported them to the Entertainments Manager or he would have found out by other means and they will have faced the consequences of their actions.
kruzseeka Posted January 11, 2023 #111 Share Posted January 11, 2023 We were on QE when late one evening we went to the buffet for (probably) a hot chocolate - can't imagine why else we would go as we don't use the self service ordinarily. A group of six young people (early 20s?) arrived screaming and laughing and blocked the entrance. They weren't threatening or harming anyone but we're clearly very very drunk. One of the guys ended up on his back on the floor waving his arms and legs around much to the very loud hilarity of his friends. These were very respectable looking (in my mind almost Hooray Henry's if that conveys an impression without offending anyone). Security was called to move them on. Just my experience - not that it affects my overall opinion of Cunard or their passengers. But goes to show issues can arise anywhere but as MB points out it is the cruise company's procedures and response which we need to have confidence in.

My mum literally chocked at the price of a cup of tea in Norway and she couldn’t even drink it as it was Earl Grey and not her usual black tea. She took a picture of the bill as she said no one would believe her. Lucky she didn't have Lunch when ashore the prices would have given a heart attack. Prices of everything in Norway are a lot higher than here in the UK but there average wage and standards of living are lot highers than ours so not expensive to those staying there. Something anyone planing to visit Norway for first time should note. Beautiful Country, Lovely People but if you don't know about prices before you go can be a shock.

Rstlnd Posted January 12, 2023 #118 Share Posted January 12, 2023 I have thoroughly enjoyed this thread. I have not been on CC for a long time as we shifted from cruising to an RV. Now I want to do another cruise. I am curious about the cruise critic site. I remember when you could go to a search with very specific filters and then see the final price and book if desired, through the Cruise Company. I do not see that the same as before. Am I wrong about that? The aging brain is a terrible thing to waste 🙂 Cunard is of interest as I want to do back to back TA out of New York. Yorkypete Posted January 16, 2023 #120 Share Posted January 16, 2023 (edited) I have to say that on our Iona cruise on Jan 2nd the casino was quite packed most nights with people who were raucous and the worse for wear. One night I was at the roulette wheel with my wife and one drunkard kept saying 'come and sit down love' to her whilst another said 'dont worry he is just a cruise playboy' The said person, whom we ignored then left leaving two friends there. As I was playing one approached my wife who was behind me and said 'I want to say something'. She just replied ' stand back and keep your distance'. I then turned round and he went white and walked away. This is behaviour that starts a fight as I feel that would have happened if I had said anything as he had two drunken pals with him. We did not report this but I for one, will not be cruising P&O unless security is tightened up and the drinking is cut down. Dreadful - I would have seriously considered getting off next stop and flying home. Well done for not saying anything - that must have been difficult. I might have lost it.

It was not the only problem. Even in the casino there were children plasying around (not on the machines). It appeared to be that the parents were in the Brodies bar (which was jam packed hence the many people standing around with drinks in the casino) and left their children to entertain themselves.. I do think that with a few sea days there is very little to do in the evenings and afternoons but to drink. It is encouraged .As I said my wife dealt with it very well. So why don't these problems happen on Princess when they have sea days and entertainment choice not much different than ,P&O. Think it is only too easy to put the blame solely on drinks packages. If it was drinks packages to blame it would be happening on other ships.
