NFL Playoffs in Sports Bar?

We will be on the Eurodam later this month. There will be 2 NFL playoff weekends while we are on board. I read that they would show the superbowl, but can anyone tell me if I'll be able to see any of the playoff games? Thx!

On the Eurodam last month, Gallery Bar is gone.  Now it's an extension of the casino (mainly slots).  The bar is still there, but all of the comfy seating and a lot of the art on the walls is gone.  Very disappointing, as we really enjoyed that spot on Nieuw Amterdam earlier last year.

The bar, if TV on, usually has Futbol but may be able to request channel change. You can watch on a special channel in cabin. On Pinnacle ships they will show games on Lido pool monitor. But they don't carry TV network licenses so depending on game and network, will depend what's on ship. For the Superbowl, they usually broadcast in World Stage (on older ships) with appetizers. But since they don't have all of the licenses, you won't get the Superbowl commercials, which sometimes are the best part. They will rerun the same ESPN promos over and over.

Sports Betting Onboard

This is a bit off-topic but...

Back in June 2022 it was announced that sports betting was coming to Holland America ships.  Is anyone aware of any HAL ship that actually has it, presumably in the casino?

Oh, no. That is too bad, it was a nice little out of the way spot.

Might this be a temporary install for a slot tournament?  I recall seeing comments the same time last year about banks of slot machines being installed in the Ocean Bar area on at least two HAL ships.  People were all up in arms commenting on how the casino was taking over the ship.  After the slot tournament was over (about a month or so), the slots were quietly uninstalled and the area they were in was restored to how it looked before the temp install.

I hope so, but there were no signs to indicate a slot tournament would be going on, and the casino wasn't any busier than usual.  On the Rotterdam the previous year they turned Ocean Bar into a room full of slot machines, but that definitely was a big slot tournament cruise and I saw big signs around the ship on that deck.  The casino was packed, and with all those smokers it was pretty disgusting throughout much of Music Walk.  I'll never book a ship that's having a slot tournament again!

HAL does not have any big slot tournaments coming uo. The addition of those machines are not temporary.

There are several HAL ships that do not allow smoking in the casino that also hold slot tournaments!

We were in Brazil for the world cup while brazil was playing, NO TELIVISED viewing, they suggested we leave the boat & go into town.  This meant another tender ride which the crew did not manage well so we did not see the match.  For the most part Holland has opted out of showing games that require tem to upgrade their subscriptions.

We were on the Koningsdam on Thanksgiving.  As you know, there were three games that day.  HAL didn't even have the rights to the Bills-Lions game.  They did have the Cowboys-Giants game, but they only played it in the cabins, not in any public spaces.  They did show the Patriots-Vikings game in the cabins and on the big screen on the Lido.  As Boze said, if you have your heart set on a particular game...hope for the best, prepare for the worst.

Very possible, even probable, if you were in a fjord. Did you try for any other OTA stations during those 10 minutes? That would be the proof.
