  1. Enjoyed our yesterday on Konningsdam!
  2. Favorite cruise - 21+ days to Antarctica. Amazing to see Penguins in their natural habitat! Only downside- the flights from Seattle and back
  3. Just saw your posts of eclipse. We are on Koningsdam and saw your ship out in the water on the 8th. The eclipse was amazing!! Agree with you about the t-shirts -- think HAL could have sold many but none onboard. Several people bought t-shirts on Amazon before cruise! Wish we had done that!!
  4. We are on this cruise too, Will be eager to read your perceptions as we travel along!
  5. !986 Christmas cruise. Parents and 2 brothers with families in the Caribbean. We got hooked and have enjoyed HAL ever since!
  6. Looking forward to your postings! We have been to Antarctica 4 times since 2010. Such an amazing place. Hope you are able to get into the Falklands and see the king penguins. Have a wonderful cruise - excited to follow along and relive our memories!
  7. Looking forward to your posts. Have a friend sailing with you. We will be on Konigsdam for the eclipse in April so it will be fun to get your reports of what to see and do!
  8. So glad you were able to get into the Falklands! Volunteer Point is such an amazing place. An unforgettable experience!
  9. Looking forward to following along again! Hope you get in to Falklands this time - Volunteer Point an amazing place esp. on a sunny day!
  10. Deck 6 (bow) great place for viewing. Get there early - it gets crowded!
  11. Hope you don't end up on a sandbar in the Amazon as we did in 2019. Excitiing?! Ask Tim and Angala (Timmer) about it!
  12. Sorry you missed the Falklands, Many were disappointed passengers on our cruise last Dec. when it was cancelled for us. Thankful to have been there on 3 previous cruises to see the penguins! We encourage those who missed out on this cruise to try again. The Falklands are an amazing area!
  13. We often walked around on our own. But listen carefully to ship advise - when in Rio de Janiero we were told to be extra careful - several passengers and crew were picpocked and a friend had his gold necklace torn off his neck. Know your surroundings and keep your eyes open wherever you go!
  14. Check out the cruise critic member blogs by "Writer on Deck" and "Btimmer" Both on Zaandam now and sharing their cruise adventures and pictures. You can find info on cruise critic website HAL section.
  15. We have done this trip 4 times - 2010 to 2019. Benefit of a verandah stateroom is you can come inside if you need warming up. We loved close up views of icebergs, penguins, whales and birds from our balcony. Whatever you choose you will love this adventure!
  16. An amazing journey - do it! We have done both directions and loved every minute!
  17. Looking forward to following your adventures! Brother and sister-in-law are traveling with you so will be following their Zaandam adventures too! Thanks for sharing
  18. . We were with you on the Volendam that got stuck on the sandbar in the Amazon. Looking forward to your reports! Hopefully no sandbars this time!
  19. Did this cruise a few years ago and enjoyed it very much. Yes the train ride was long but beautiful scenery. When we reached the end had an enjoyable time at the restaurant and walking the grounds. Enjoyed stops in La Paz and Loreto as well.
  20. Having been on the Amazon cruise that became stuck on the sandbar as mentioned by others here and on 4 Antarctica cruises we know you will love each. So many amazing places to see and nature up close and personal. Hope you enjoy your HAL cruises! Check out former roll calls for these cruises to see pic and ideas for excursions.
  21. Lovely pictures! Thanks for sharing! Norwegian fiords are so beautiful - sure you will have many more amazing photos!
