Pay Princess with Carnival Gift Cards

Have several Carnival gift cards (have not used yet) and my group decided to go with Princess instead of Carnival.  
Since they are the same now, can I use my Carnival gift cards to pay off my Princess Cruise?  
Thank you in advance, even Google is not getting my question.

No, you cannot.  Carnival GC’s are only good on Carnival ships.

Thank you so much.  I see this thread was from 2016. I knew there where business model changes in 2018 and 2019.  BUT! thank you for answering my question.

This is a fairly common misconception. Princess is owned by Carnival Corporation - not by Carnival Cruise Line.  Carnival Corporation owns a bunch of different cruise lines. Carnival Corporation owns Carnival Cruise Line, Holland America, Princess, Seabourn, Cunard, AIDA, Costa, P&O, and P&O Australia,

Yep...each line has its own gift cards.

Carnival PLC operates it 9 operating cruise lines as totally separate companies similar to what holding companies do.  There is little commonality between them.
