jerrytex Posted February 14, 2023 #1 Share Posted February 14, 2023 Has anyone purchased this discount offer? If you used it, how did it work out? If not used, did you easily get your money back for the coupon?
CruiserMickey Posted February 14, 2023 #2 Share Posted February 14, 2023 Following…I was wondering the same thing.
jerrytex Posted February 27, 2023 Author #3 Share Posted February 27, 2023 I went ahead and purchased the discount offer. While we are Effy customers, we did not buy anything from the Effy showroom on the cruise. I asked our retreat concierge about it and she arranged for the refund to come with our OBC refund without a problem. I assume this would have occurred automatically otherwise.
Scuppersisontheboat Posted February 28, 2023 #4 Share Posted February 28, 2023 OBC refund? Is that a Retreat only thing?

I would think that since the purchase was made pre-cruise, that you made the purchase with a credit card. The refund would go back on the card used to make the original purchase. They may add the amount to your OBC hoping you will purchase something else onboard and it will be processed back to your card after the cruise ends with all the other refundable OBC. I doubt it is a Retreat only thing.....the OP just had the concierge assist instead of going to the Customer Service desk.
spiritkat090909 Posted March 6, 2023 #6 Share Posted March 6, 2023 My sister purchased this on the Millennium in Nov 22. She was the first to use on this ship. The purchase was made online of a gift certificate for $1000. She was CHARGED $750. After the negotiations for the price of the jewelry, she told them she would be using the certificate (it's not combinable with Effy online gift certificates, only the one purchased through celebrity shops could be used). This meant a trip downstairs to guest services where the Effy manager and the ships security did stuff behind the scenes to figure out how to ring up the charge. She (I was with) was escorted back to the Effy store with mgr & security in tow to complete the transaction. Security wanted to see/know how it was done since no one had done one before. Took about an hour and a half to complete the $5k gross purchase. I would think by now the Effy managers & ship staff may have done a couple? tde1969 Posted April 11, 2023 #8 Share Posted April 11, 2023 We purchased the pre-cruise Effy jewelry offer. It was a $3,000.00 credit. We didn't find anything onboard to purchase so we went to guest services on about day 10 of a 14 day cruise. Guest services said they would take care of the credit. No credit was given by the end of the cruise. We are now at 7 weeks since we've been back. I've called at least 5 times with lengthy hold times. The first couple of times I was told it takes at least 15 days to process. Today I was told it takes 45 days. I then reminded them that I was at least at 49 days. We are big celebrity fans but this has taken way too long for a simple credit back to the card.

Rmpa45 Posted August 16, 2023 #12 Share Posted August 16, 2023 Horrible experience, would strongly recommend against. Purchased the pre-cruise certificate, purchased jewelry. Certificate did not get applied. They tried to convince me to buy more jewelry. I wanted them to apply the certificate to the jewelry I had already purchased. They said they would call corporate. I got the final bill and my credit had not been applied. Now, a month after the cruise has ended, they are telling me that they cannot refund me the $750. Because they tried to call my room the last night and I wasn’t there. Apparently they wanted me to be present while they applied my gift certificate. Both Celebrity and Effy are telling me essentially that they are stealing my $750.

I purchased the $2500 cert for $1750. We have been onboard this being the second day. We had a specific collection in mind to complement a couple of purchases on the last crossing in April. They tried to convince us to buy something else. We said no. I asked for the money to be refunded. Or an onboard credit. I told them it didn’t even need to be refunded cheerfully. They continued to try to sell jewelry. They keep saying to come back later when they have time to see if I am due a refund. I said the ad says that the amount is refunded on board. I’ll post updates.

Pretty sure I tried every ring they had before settling. Negotiated pretty hard but price was accepted. Wasn't cheap and I have not found anything like it in any shop locally. It needed sizing and was told onboard I would have to send FedEx to Vancouver, Canada. No way was I going to risk it so went to my reputable jeweller and had it sized. I'm surprised Effy makes you send out to their own store. Far too risky.

(lol) X gamblers get Effy credits, it doesn't make a lot of sense but I guess they assume most gamblers are men who have significant others (SO) who may get bored when their SO gambles and goes shopping

Most credit card chargebacks were fairly straightforward but one was a toughie as they issued me a credit. That was in 2020 they said only option but I later found out that our Canadian government would only help them out if they refunded flights due to covid. Took awhile but finally got refund.
